I fail to see the logic of this move, other than to comply with an obscure government regulation.

My apologies for 2 comments but I hit send too early. Has anyone considered connecting to the Hollywood Freeway southbound at the existing Lankershim onramp (across from Regal Place)via a bridge across the freeway from the existing Buddy Holly Drive which connects to Universal Studios Boulevard? This would eliminate the conflict with the Barham Blvd offramp.

Closure of the Barham Blvd off-ramp would seriously impact not only residents and businesses along Cahuenga Blvd West but everyone who uses this ramp to access Barham Boulevard and Toluca Lake and Burbank businesses and residents. It WILL NOT reduce traffic on Cahuenga Blvd W, it will INCREASE it as people travel from the Lankershim offramp to their homes or businesses or to access Barham Boulevard, Outpost, etc.

Although some traffic would benefit from such a closure, all the businesses around this intersection will suffer. But we know L.A. City Hall is not interested in small businesses that keeps the town running, but do little in political contributions. Fix the intersection and traffic lights that will benefit both Universal and all the small businesses in the area. This also is an “emergency” ramp when the freeway backs up.

This off-ramp is CRUCIAL to so much access to get out to the Burbank portion of the valley. Not only for business at Warners, Disney, NBC, and general financial interests up Barhmam and Olive, there is very few through-ways like it. It drops you right where you need to be for South-west Burbank areas. Furthermore, I have family recently buried at Forest Lawn and it would be horrible to have to make a long-range trip to vist their graves when I live just on the other side of the 101 in Studio City off Ventura Blvd. The idea of closing that ramp is ridiculous. When I first hear do it, I thought they meant temporary, and for repairs only. Bu permanent? Whoever came up with this at Caltrans should be FIRED!! That is not traffic management or even logical at all. I can only imagine Universal Studios had something to do with this, to get people oging past it merely to reel them in for the now failing Universal City since everyone now goes to Hollywood and Highland instead (unlike 20 years ago, when Universal, instead of putting money into Hollywood Blvd,. built their own little private Hollywood). There is no other exit access like it, and I can't believe that with all the limited travel ways this sity has in getting to the valley to the Hollywood and Beverly Hills side, they this of all exits would be closed.
