“Doug Wilkins would be rolling over if he heard about this”. Just one of the many comments made to me when mentioning the proposal to eliminate this position. Similar HS have tried this and it’s been a complete debacle. Logistics For 600+ students plus coaches, parents, officials, plus opposing teams plus attendants. This it will negatively affect sooo many athletes and more! . Way to negatively impact the most students in one fell swoop. Insanity!!!!

Track and cross-country were very important to me while a student at MLHS in 1967-70. Having a full-time athletic director contributed directly to good coaches and good competition for the MLHS teams.

Much of the reason we recently moved (2018)to Mountain Lakes was for the fantastic high school. After sending our children to a NJ Independent school 1-8th we moved to town for the culture. Mountain Lakes high school and the spirit of the Mountain Lakes community is a tremendous lore for people looking to move to into town. Being part of the Herd Family has been a family affair which we cherish. We were thrilled that our daughter will start as a freshman In the fall swinging her softball bat. We are a sports family in a sports town and we need a sports leader. Thank you in advance for exhausting other options.

Athletic Director Pat Brunner is an invaluable part of the success of the District's success in sports. I urge you to consider other cost cutting measures that would allow you to keep Mr. Brunner in our district.

Sports are a huge part of Mountain Lakes and the position of AD is a focal point for the success of the program. I also feel Patrick Brunner has done an excellent job in the position and would hate for the town to lose him.

The AD is a critical position for the athletic dept that serves 80% of students. Mr. Brunner has brought a new level of professionalism to the department. It seems cuts will have to be made, but perhaps better to reduce number of coaches for certain sports and charge fee for participation. But keep the AD.

There is a reason high schools have an AD and farming out all their responsibilities to others will be a huge disservice to our school.
