I am a student here at AOLP, and have only been attending for 3 years (at the end of this year), but even if I've only been there for 3 years I care, and want them to stay open at least another year. It would allow all of us to change schools/ jobs and not be thrown into something random - it's too much to comprehend! I moved to AOLP from another Catholic school that closed, eerily, in a similar way. AOLP was an easy transition for me, thanks to teachers and friends that I have now. I am worried that this time the transition will be much rockier, mostly due to the pandemic. I don't want that to happen again, and I don't want anyone to go through that, especially with additional worries during these times, and when we're nearing a new school year! That isn't easy for anyone, whether they are a student, or an adult. I'm just praying that the Archdiocese understands and wants to listen. Because this also doesn't affect just our schools, other schools closed, too. So a lot of people are losing their school and jobs. It just doesn't seem Catholic, but at this point it extends beyond religion. People don't have to be Catholic to see other peoples perspectives and have empathy!!!

Where will our future Catholics learn?

The archdiocese maintains that it is making a difficult business decision at a difficult time. It is not reasonable, however, in these highly unusual days, to be making determinations of long term viability. The COVID pandemic has distorted the financial picture of nearly every business and institution across the globe. In response, the government and financial world has mobilized to accommodate, preserve and support those entities confronted by short term distress. It is stunning that in this extraordinary time, and at the same time others are extending extraordinary support, the archdiocese would make an abrupt decision to withdraw support and abandon a school with 65 years of history. There could not be a worse time to be making such shortsighted decisions with such far reaching implications.

How could you possibly close Catholic schools down 1 month from the end of the year. This is beyond belief.

Clean house of deadwood, bring in people of charisma, vision, intelligence, competency, and imagination, AND WATCH THE SCHOOL THRIVE !!

This is very sad. What are families to do within the next 120 days! Maybe RCAN can find another way to pay their bills.

I attended Catholic school for 16 years and I believe a Catholic education is an important mission of our church. Please reconsider your decision.

My granddaughter received an exemplary education at OLP and I wish to have other students in the future afforded the opportunity of also receiving a similar education. Thank you.

A nationally distinguished school receiving relatively low financial subsidy should be kept open. Dismantling the faculty and academic program that make up a Blue Ribbon School is a decision that can’t be undone when the financial crisis has passed.

It is very difficult to see Catholuc Schools closing. I believe the values taught there are worth so much more than the cost.

I have a strong faith in God! However, my faith has been shaken by the disciples of our Church. Please restore my faith in you ! Do the right thing!

I graduated from OLP in 1983. A few of us from this class recently returned for a reunion and were so impressed with the Academy. I hope there is some way we can keep the school open.
