I agree with everything said by Pat but would
like to add that at as a financial services professional I reviewed the past 2 years of financial statements and it’s clear that the motives here are beyond those of being a business decision. Additionally, as a business owner I am well versed in making hard decisions. That being said we always made decisions understanding the impact we are making. From my perspective as a a parent and professional neither has been considered here. First, making this decision in May is unacceptable let alone in the midst of a pandemic. The diocese could have made the right decision to delay this by a year and communicate to teachers and parents in a timely manner, a review of the financial statements clearly indicates this. I have also heard that the school and diocese has not paid the proper unemployment taxes which allow the teachers to benefit from the unemployment taxes we all pay. If this is in fact true I find it personally reprehensible and against anything and everything I have learned in my 44 years of being a catholic while being in catholic school and as a business owner. I do not expect any of this to change to the decision made but hope to make it crystal clear that these decisions being made are nothing more than greedy people being greedy at the worst time in the last 100 years. I hope you look at yourself in the mirror and are happy with yourself as we console our children and the second school change in their 10 years of schooling. It’s clear that the Catholic Church does not prioritize the teaching the of church over the greed of owning various investments like a parking garage. The free cash generated by investments and other aspects and the tax free status definitely would make any business jealous during this extraordinary time. I will end by saying thank you for showing your true colors.

The school was the center of our lives away from home and to see it so abruptly taken from us during an unprecedented, worldwide pandemic is heartless and shortsighted. The Church leadership continues to fail their flock. This is an opportunity for them to show some compassion and step up for once !

I did not attend this school, but I have friends who did and I have horrible that this place full of kids great memories might be gone.

I had many memories at this school and it would break my heart to see it close. Almost all of the teachers there made my experience 10x better and others should be lucky enough to have them.

We need to reopen AOLP. This is our children’s home from home, the place our children get an education from amazing teachers who care about them and if you truly care about your parishioners, you may want to hear what they have to say and what is important to them!

My son went to OLP from kg-8. We value the catholic education that our son received. This decision to close the school in middle of a pandemic is very unfair. There must be other options!

AOLP is a vibrant school community with great teachers, wonderful extracurriculars, and a tremendously supportive community and parish. My daughters love this school and so do we. Simply put, it is not a dying school, but one full of life. The decision to close it was an absolute shock to me and to this whole community. The least the Archdiocese could do is give all who love this school an opportunity to make the necessary changes to keep our school open. Without providing us this opportunity, this closure seems unjust and is yet another way the Archdiocese has let us down in these difficult times.

My son has been going to AOLP since he was 3 years old - for the past 10 years. His achievements are remarkable thanks to the warm and nurturing environment that the teachers and staff provide. It will be a great loss to our family, our parish and our community for this school - National Blue Ribbon school - to close. Please keep it open!

Please do your Christian responsibility and keep the Academy of Our Lady of Peace opened. The students and their families who have supported you throughout the years along with the faculty deserve better from the Archdiocese.

I hope the archdiocese understands that they think they are going to save money by closing the school, but you have betrayed so many people. I can guarantee I will never spend another cent to support any organization of the archdiocese.
