Keep The Academy of Our Lady of Peace, New Providence Open

My grandson goes there. Please keep it open. It's a great school.

We fully support Our Lady of Peace as it is one of the most well respected schools in the area & diocese. It truly saddens us to hear the news. We as a family strongly stand behind all those trying to save the school. This poor decision to close the doors to one of the finest academies around needs to be rethought.

Horrible, horrible decision and timing. You live long enough and think nothing will truly shock you. Never in a million years did we ever see this coming. And we never had any inkling or the slightest chance to even do something about it before it happened. As someone who went to a Catholic school from pre school through my Master's degree, I am so embarrassed about this decision, amongst other emotions.

While every school must face financial realities, Catholic schools of late are their own worst enemies. They price out potential students with high tuition, then complain of declining enrollment. Surely, a mix of more attainable tuition, alumni support and financial creativity can at least be attempted before this drastic step. And to do so in this time is shortsighted. If educating children and providing a sanctuary for them to learn is not a diocesean priority, I don't know what is

Request to please keep the school open.

As a teacher at AOLP for the past 11 years, I can attest to what a wonderful learning community it is. Our students, parents, faculty, and staff are amazing! AOLP is a community that makes a real difference in the lives of our students. This is what a Catholic education is designed to do....to educate and contribute to the development of the values of young people so they can make a positive difference in our world. We need to save our school!!

Great school and excellent teachers. Please don’t close it

I would hate to see the school close. My two grandchildren go to your school and I love the work you do with the children and how the teachers teach the children to think outside the box. Academically they have both excelled with this school and I would hate to see that end. This would be the second school to close, and that does have an impact on all the children. If there is anyway to keep the school open the children would benefit

As a board member of the school for 10 years, I can say the administration, the board, the parish and Fr Bill did everything possible to convince the diocese to keep this school open. Many creative and financially stable proposals were presented and ignored. It is a shame that during this pandemic they choose to close instead of support. The Academy was a special place and the students, teachers, parents and the community deserve better than the abrupt decision made by the diocese

This school is a family.. not a building

My 4 nieces and 2 nephew were OLP students and have continued their education at Georgetown, Villanova and Colorado while the youngest will be a junior in HS. They all speak highly of their education and their love for the church and the community. I believe it is beneficial to the community and to our young people to continue with a solid foundation and to keep OLP open for 2020 and beyond.

It can’t always be about money ! Please let this wonderful school stay open

This school is an amazing asset to the community. Closing the school would be a huge loss to the children and the community.

This is not the Catholic way. This announcement by the archdiocese was handled with a total lack of professionalism. This situation needs to be discussed in an open forum. The school needs to remain open for the sake of the children.
