Words cannot express our sadness and disappointment in the closure of our beloved AOLP. We have lost part of our family. To do this to the children, families and teachers so suddenly, during this unprecedented time of worldwide uncertainty and fear shows none of the compassion and Christian values that are the very foundation of a Catholic education and of our faith itself. Please reconsider this decision and give the AOLP family a chance to save the school.

This is so so wrong on so many levels. Why would the decision makers go for the gut-punch to the students, parents and faculty when there are resources and other options to keep the school open?

Compassion is a value that characterize Catholic Education, however, the decision to close the school in the middle of a pandemic with no chance to see other schools is nothing to do with it.

As someone who was looking forward to my 50-year reunion in 2021, this came as a gut-punch. If you truly value Catholic education at its finest, dedicated teachers and administration, and exceptional students, please carefully and prayerfully reconsider this decision. Our Faith is already facing untold challenges amid this pandemic. We are an Easter people. Give students, parents, and teachers a reason to shout Alleluia!!

The Archdiocese of Newark’s closing of AOLP was handled unprofessionally and without compassion. Alternative recommendations to keep the School open that were proposed by Father Bill , Joel, and the Board were brushed aside.
My wife has taught at AOLP for 20 years and is part of a Blue Ribbon School. I saw how the Teachers and Administrations positivity interacted with the Students and their Families. I hope that there is a way to keep the School open for the sake of doing the right thing. Reading these posts is a powerful statement of how important AOLP is to the Community it serves. I am a product of Catholic Education from Grammar School through College. We were taught to be compassionate and help others. The timing of the School closure was poor and without genuine compassion. Let’s all hope that something can be worked out to keep the School open. It would be the right thing to do.

Please reconsider closing our school. As a family member of a teacher and students I know how much this will break their hearts. I have personally seen when attending events how special this environment is for learning .
