As an important safety measure for the families of Swarthmore and the neighboring communities, this intersection should have both a crossing guard and a stoplight.

This is a very unsafe street to cross even as an adult. I cross here about 7-10 times a week and maybe once a week a car will stop and let me cross. It definitely as changed over the years.

There is actually a sign telling motorists to stop for pedestrians, but I would say an average of only 30% obey the sign and the law. I walk my 9 year old across Yale to wait for the bus because the possibility of him being hit while crossing at this legal crosswalk frightens us both.

I find it sad that where there are currently crossing guards there is either a light or a stop sign. Yet for the kids on southside they are expected to play frogger.

We live south of Yale and walk or bike across this intersection regularly. It is not friendly to pedestrians. Cars often speed through without regard for bike and foot traffic.
My kids are in 1st and 4th grade at SRS and often bike to school across this intersection.
Please help to make our childrens' school commute safe.

I always find crossing yale on Rutgers a tricky business even when kids are accompanied by an adult. Either cycling or walking can be stressful.

We live 6 houses from this intersection and can attest to how dangerous it is. Cars on Yale speed and rarely yield to us when we are crossing - even when we are mid-street! Please help make our kids' foot-powered commute as valued and safe as possible!
