We live 6 houses from this intersection and can attest to how dangerous it is. Cars on Yale speed and rarely yield to us when we are crossing - even when we are mid-street! Please help make our kids' foot-powered commute as valued and safe as possible!

Crossing guard is needed because borough took down the stop sign at this intersection. New improvements in Spring 2017 will help, but still rely on cars to yield to pedestrians. They won't. Short of restoring the stop sign, borough should hire guard to help kids cross. Other crossing locations are at stop signs and lighted intersections, arguably much safer than Rutgers x Yale.

Please put a crossing guard at the busy intersection of Rutgers and Yale avenues. Many children choose to walk or bike to school, and the crosswalk signs are not enough to keep our children safe.

I want to ride my bike but my mom won't let me because there isn't a crossing guard. Please let me ride my bike to school.

That is a busy road, no one stops at the crosswalk. I ride my bike almost every day.

A hallmark of Swarthmore life is the sight of children walking to school. Let's do what it takes to keep that going!

My son rides his bike to school almost every day. Although he is a very capable cyclist, I worry about the speed and carelessness of drivers at the intersection of Yale and Rutgers. A crossing guard before and after school is long overdue.

This is a very dangerous intersection. Cars don't slow down - even with the crosswalk sign. There are many, many children who need to cross Yale to walk/bike to school, but cannot given the intersection (which unlike other intersections doesn't even have a stop sign - let alone a crossing guard). I've inquired about a crossing guard at this intersection a few years ago . . .Please give us a crossing guard!

I would love to have a crossing guard at the intersection of Yale and Rutgers, without one there at this moment I do not allow my 3rd grader to walk or ride his bike to school alone. With the addition of a crossing guard there I would allow him to do so.
Thank you,
Tricia Benedetto
