Keep Swarthmore's Children Safe - Crossing Guard at Yale & Rutgers Needed

A crossing guard or traffic light is a must at this intersection. There are so many kids who live south of Yale who are eager to walk or bike to school. Parents should not feel uneasy to let their kids walk/bike to school. So they meet their kids to make sure the kids get across Yale safely. A cross guard or traffic light would go a long way and encourage more independent walking/biking to school.

I hope a crossing guard will not only keep the kids safe at Rutgers, but will slow down traffic that moves far too fast on Yale.

More attention should be paid to regulating traffic on the length of Yale, Chester to Swarthmore Ave.

Consider packaging this with a more limited bussing schedule. I live in Dartmouth Ave and I'm appalled that kids who live on the north side of Yale are allowed to be bussed when there are no dangerous crossings.

My daily experience, weather I am walking or biking, is that cars rarely stop at the pedestrian crossing at this location. A stop or a traffic light are needed. Crossing guard is also an option. Thank you

This intersection is so dangerous not just for kids but also for adults, because drivers tend not to heed the crosswalk especially during rush hours. A crossing guard would let kids in the whole neighborhood safely walk/ride bikes to school!

Yale is such a busy street and this particular stretch tends to compel cars to drive faster than on other stretches. Kids deserve to be safe as they make their way to school.

A great petition for the community. Our kids are lucky to have one crossing 320. Yale Ave is just as busy.

Kids who walk or bike to school over the years may ebb and flow, but right now there is a solid group of kids that would use a crossing guard at Yale. Please consider it - anything we can do to facilitate kids staying active should be a no-brainer.

My 4th grade son would love to ride his bike to school. We won't let him due solely to the unsafe situation crossing Yale Avenue. The speeding is truly dangerous and out of hand.
