The school board thinks they can just cut study halls without a word of explanation to the families they serve. I have been demanding answers from their office all week and their refusal to engage only proves they are hiding a reckless agenda.

The district administrators finally have to look at this wave of outrage because we have reached a point where they can no longer ignore us. They tried to brush this aside but our momentum is making it impossible for their cowardice to stay hidden.

Study hall is important for students involved in sports and other after school activities. There are times they don't get home until very late, and have homework and family time / down time. Please keep study hall!
For students who participate in sports and other activities, study hall is essential. They are often sleep deprived even with study hall. Adding another hour of classwork and taking away study time does not help anything. The idea that cramming more class time and more homework into a teenager's life leads to better educational outcomes is insupportable. I strongly oppose the attempt to remove study hall for Shawnee Mission South students.
I believe every student should be able to sign up for study hall at Shawnee Mission South, Overland Park, KS.
Study Halls are important for heavily involved students.
Keep study hall. It helps students participate in extracurricular activities and maintain high GPAs.

Study hall gives the students time to complete their homework or study for tests and keeps them from getting overwhelmed, if they don't have enough time at home.
