KEEP SPRING RIDGE AT NORTHWOOD

Keep Spring Ridge at Northwood Elementary.

I have personally seen many of the students walking to school and agree that moving student's that are that close to the school to another school is just not right. That, and the traffic on Old Alabama Road can be downright terrible on certain days making it a burden on parents who drop off their kids to have to make the nightmare that is traffic on either a) Holcomb Bridge Road back to Old Alabama, or b) Nesbit Ferry up to Old Alabama, and then past the Old Alabama Connector traffic back to Spring Ridge. It's unconscionable that traffic is not playing a role in this decision, as well as all other points made on this petition.

Don't change the districts

I'm surprised that the Fulton County school officials that support this map are willing to forever sacrifice the voting bloc in Spring Ridge, a tight community with a long memory.

The kids already attending Northwood need to finish there. It could be a devastating event changing schools.

Unfortunately our kids at Inisfree will be moved to Barnwell Elemtary too.

I wish we can stay at Northwood.

It would be ridiculous to send children further away to school when their school now is so close.

The spring ridge community is an an integral part of Northwoods support network and forcing these community members to create even more congestion on Old Alabama Road defies all logic. Please keep Spring Ridge as part of Northwoods.

It takes just one person to think outside the box. Perhaps you are that ONE on the School Board? We hope so, because there is enough outcry for you rise to the occasion. You will be disrupting much more that a solid, local community for a situation that could be dealt with differently. Due to close proximity & traffic patterns -which you are well aware of - we have proven our point. Due to projections, they are just that: projections, not absolutes. We are extremely concerned taxpayers of the North Fulton area. We are counting on you who we elected to represent us. PLEASE REVIEW the maps -You, each one as an elected member of the School Board, are the only ones empowered to request these maps be reviewed revised to meet the outcry of your constituents. Spring Ridge community has been passionately crying out to rise to the occasion and do what it is that you have been elected to do. So far, it appears that this process is only a formality. We have outlined our concerns, more than perhaps any other neighborhood. We have followed the guidelines, in order to be heard. However, there has been nothing but apparent stonewalling. Your roles are necessary and elemental in this process. You have each been granted a special opportunity, through your election, to hear the people who are counting on you to represent their concerns. Our children and families have nurtured relationships for many years to form the close knit school and community that has become Northwood Elementary. We understand that there are families that would welcome us into their school, and that is really something we are proud of. However: WE DO NOT WANT TO LEAVE NORTHWOOD. OUR CHILDREN DO NOT WANT TO LEAVE NORTHWOOD. We are invested in our school and community. In our "global" world, it is so seldom, if ever, that children get to have a close feeling of community, a “local connection”. And our children actually have that – right now. Our neighborhood lives a 1/2 mile down Old Alabama road from Wooten Rd. We walk our children to school; parents, children, neighbors & friends - bonding as a community because of the proximity of our dear school. Spring Ridge parents have always been actively engaged in volunteering and we have donated many hours and dollars to help build this particular school, Northwood. Northwood is truly our neighborhood school. No valid reason to move our kids and makes no common sense. Let them be able to walk/ride to school. - Lake Forest Resident

How about some common sense and logic. Any of that left these days ??? Keep our kids in walking distance.

Agreed, Spring Ridge and all other children currently on the maps due to be moved should be reconsidered. We are currently also going to be affected according to Round 2 maps, moving our son who has been at Northwood for 4 years to Barnwell. He will not know anyone and will then be moved again in 2 years to a middle school his new classmates will not attend, as the majority of Barnwell students will attend Autry Mill as our neighborhood, Haynes Landing feeds into Haynes Bridge Middle. We have already set up interviews at various private schools and will certainly move our son, if Fulton County schools continues think it is okay to disrupte our communities in this manner. There is no just reasoning for any of our Northwood children to be uprooted from their home of learning!

Absolutely must keep Spring Ridge at Northwood Elementary. My kids and I walked or rode bikes to school from our home in Spring Ridge for many years.

This is absolutely insane. Moving spring ridge shouldn't be an option. We live further away from Northwood than the families in spring ridge and I cannot imagine putting my children through all of that. Keep spring ridge!

Do not jeopardize everyone for a minimum amount of students.
