At first, I thought this was some type of joke. But now that I realize this is something that is actually being discussed, I think this absurd. It makes no sense to make a child take a P.E class in addition to playing a sport. I would love to hear an explanation as to why anyone would think that taking a P.E class and playing a sport are two different things. It makes no sense why you wouldn't give a student credit for playing sports in high school.

Don't add another PE class to students already in a sport.

My daughter is already working until late at night. Adding sports after 6th period will give them less time to study and spend time with family. Which at this age is very critical.

Having athletes take PE would be detrimental to the athlete's training and overall sports performance.

By making students do sports as an after school activity you're basically taking away sports. Many kids have club teams, homework, and other activities going on after school. Not only do they have to already try to keep up with their homework and assignments with sports being 6th period, you are basically asking the students to run their grades and physical health to the ground.

There's enough work already when going go Granada. With less time to complete that work and beeing physically more exhaused as the days go by, will ruin students' time to work on hw which would lead to less study time and lower grades

Absurd that someone who wants to be apart of Granada has to take a PE class for credits on top of a sport.

It doesn't make much sense to have students take both PE and a sport (if on a sports team) because they are both physical activities. If students are in a sport they usually don't have to take PE.
Will sports now be considered an after school activity?
If so does that mean students cannot receive any credit for their sports and this will not go on their transcripts?
First and second year are already jammed packed academically as students are trying to assimilate into Granada's rigorous schedule. Releasing the 6th period would help take some of the weight off other students but we'd be forgetting about another large population of students who are involved in all sports teams.
Overall the logistics of this really need to be re assessed and see what can be done to make this fair for everyone.
I know we love our academics but we have to think about our athletes as well!

Keep it during 6th!!! No point in doing it afterschool!! Some kids cannot stay past 3:30!!! And P.E is just a waste if youre doing a sport already! Twice the exercise!!! During that "P.E" time student athletes can study so they wont fall behind!! WHAT IS THIS SCHOOL DOING!!!

It should be a class and count for credit because it's hard than regular PE and pe counts as a class

This is not a good idea to have to kids who represent the school playing sports having to also take p.e! It's too much and I do not agree.
KEEP SPORTS 6th PERIOD!!!!
