It seems ridiculous to move the SSA office out of Apache Junction and an absurd waste of money and resources that we need!!

Just leave well enough alone. Gilber residents are younger and more affluent than nearly all of AJ residents, many of which have zero or minimal transportation

Let me get this straight, Apache Junction/East Mesa residents will be expected to drive 20 or so miles to the new Gilbert office, but Gilbert residents can’t be inconvenienced with a six mile drive to the Mesa office?

It is absolutely ridiculous to move this office from an area of high servitude to a young and wealthy area.

Why would the government spend money to build another facility when an existing one is fully used? Why make people from outlying areas go through the hardships of extra travel and wait time? Unbearable.

Keep the office close too many need it who have no transportation 20 miles away what neighboring cities who use this location just build another one and make more jobs instead of taking away what this community and one by communities need too get help from too many older folks depend on the office it's perfect where it is at..

As a DES employee who assists the developmentally disabled understand and obtain federal benefits - it seems extremely irresponsible for SSA to close this office in a community heavily populated by Senior, Veteran and Disabled beneficiaries. The Town of Gilbert is located very close to the existing Mesa SSA facility - while closing the Apache Junction facility would cause undue travel hardships for a significant population of low income beneficiaries. Apache Junction has historically been an affordable haven for lower income populations, (Sr’s & disabled); while Gilbert’s population has shown a significant increase in population with middle to upper middle income class. The idea of moving this SSA facility from a large community of recipients, to a community with additional resources AND another SSA office within a 10 mile radius seems truly irresponsible

Apache Junction has the population age group, disabilities, and economic need for this SS office to remain in AJ. And with the future growth in the Master Planned Community south of US-60, which will nearly double AJs population over the next 10 years, that need will become even more necessary. Keep the SS office here in AJ.
