For over eight months, Snowy’s cheerful crowing has been a familiar and beloved sound in our neighborhood. His presence adds joy to our daily lives and gives our community a unique, rural charm that makes us feel like we are living the simple, happy life of the countryside — even here in Sun Valley.

Recently, we learned that an inspector from the City of Cape Town visited Snowy’s home after a noise complaint. His owner has told us that Snowy must be removed from the area. This news has left many of us upset and deeply disappointed. The majority of our community values Snowy’s presence and we do not want to lose him.

Snowy is a rooster; he is part of our community. Aside from the occasional 2 a.m. crow when his mom gets home from work, he spends his days peacefully with his siblings. He is loved by his family — and even by the two Huskies who share his property, dogs who often “chat” with him through the fence and sometimes get a playful peck from this feathery friend.

We believe that the happiness Snowy brings far outweighs any minor inconvenience. Removing him would take away a piece of what makes Sun Valley feel like home.

Sun Valley is home to many wild animals i.e., Guinea fowl, Hadedas, Egyptian geese, (just mentioning the larger, noisier than Snowy, ones here).

We respectfully request that the City of Cape Town allow Snowy to remain where he is, so that he can continue to brighten our days with his charm and character.

Let’s keep Snowy crowing in Sun Valley.

I enjoy hearing Snowy's calls drift through the air. It may be helpful to keep him quiet through the night, though

We have had chickens and ducks all our lives in the valley - that's what the valley is all about, don't spoil children's core memories of growing up in such a special place

I stay 2 houses away from Raven and have zero issues with Snowy. Let people keep their animals!!!

I believe that the vast majority of our neighborhood residents wish for Snowy to remain with his loving family. He is well loved and well cared for at his current home and our community members enjoy the feeling of a more rural feeling environment, which Snowy definitely adds to. We want him here.

We enjoy having Snowy in our neighborhood. It hearkens back to simpler times when people raised their own pure food. His occasional crowing is life affirming and joyful. We feel as if we live in the countryside and it brings us happiness. Please leave Snowy alone. Respectfully, one of Snowy’s next door neighbours.

It's shocking hoe one negative voice can overrule a positive suburb. Let the Flack family keep Snowy. He is not a nuisance.
