I think we pay enough in housing fees to be able to control our own thermostats.

As parents, we believe our student should be able set his own dorm room temperature as we are paying high rent on the SMU Campus.

This is so absurd it might be mistaken for a hoax. We pay for the room. That removes any gray area as to the university's presumption of control where thermostats are considered.

My daughter lives in mary hay. She has not had a good nights sleep since the new rule went into effect! I think we have paid plenty for an appropriate amount of AC, but if it requires more $$ then maybe students should be able to opt for a paid system of AC?

I sweat while sitting at my desk. I sweat while lying in bed. This sucks, the least you could've done was wait for a new school year.... for the love of god turn the heat down. My sheets stick to me when I try to sleep.

As an RA on campus, I've gotten many complaints about this issue and see that many people are negatively effected by it

72-78 degrees sounds like child abuse to me.

It is significantly harder to fall asleep. If I go to sleep early enough to be graced with the lower spectrum of 72-76, I wake up in the middle of the night sweating.

Are you serious SMU? Spending millions on your pretty grass, but can't spend on your students who pay you 65000 a year? There's a difference between being frugal and CHEAP!
