Scott made a huge impact on my life. Imperative that he teach all those classes.

Only good teacher of the economics core. You’d be fools to limit him.

Econ 102b was hellish but Scott made it all worth it. I can’t imagine a person who could teach the class better. If Stanford is truly committed to teaching & learning, they would allow Scott to keep his current classes

Scott was hands down one of the best professors I’ve ever had

Nearly every positive review of Econ 102A/B on carta mentions Scott, and for good reason. Like other students who have signed this petition, knowing that Scott would again be lecturing was a huge motivating factor for me to take 102B. Cutting him is a huge mistake.

I learned so much in Scott’s classes, by far more than in any other economics class I took.

The learning and intellectual enjoyment I derive from taking any one class with Scott McKeon is truly unparalleled - the thoughtfulness that Scott puts into *every single lecture* is very palpable and I can only say that about a handful of classes I've ever taken at Stanford - and all 3 of Scott's classes that I've taken are within those handful.

Scott is quite literally the best professor I’ve had at Stanford. Because of his teaching and knowledge of 102A, I was motivated to continue and take 102B just so that I could have him as a lecturer again. He took time out of his schedule numerous times to meet with me to ensure that I was learning the best I could. His dedication and knowledge of the material is so evident. Losing him as a lecturer would be a huge loss for not only the Econ department, but Stanford as a whole. I strongly urge you to reconsider your decision and make the right choice for our university.

Scott is, hands down, the best professor I have had at Stanford, and, like many other people have expressed, the reason I decided to pursue and continue along with the Economics major. To cut any portion of Scott's classes would be a devastating loss to the Econ department and all future Stanford Econ students. I've taken all three of Scott's classes and they are consistently the classes I recommend to prospective Econ majors. Scott is a lecturer and teacher talented like none other - the material he teaches is challenging yet so crucial - and I cannot say with confidence that anyone would be able to teach these classes like Scott does. On behalf of all his students, former and future, I hope that the Economics department will seriously reconsider this decision. Thank you!

Scott is the best professor I've had at Stanford so far - Econ 102A was so interesting and Scott always supported us as best as he could. Even in the times of COVID where online instruction was getting tedious his class was the one I most enjoyed. I think it would be a huge mistake cutting any of his courses because he's amazing at what he does. I genuinely think Scott has the ability to convey the love of whatever he teaches to whoever watches his lectures, It's shocking that his course may be cut when they deserve to be promoted even more, please reconsider.

I've taken all 3 of Scott's current classes as a student and also been a TA for 102B. Have had nothing but a positive experience in all cases and have seen firsthand how deeply Scott cares about his students and how much effort it takes for these courses to run as smoothly as they do. It would be an absolute shame to see the department go ahead with these cuts.

Scott McKeon’s teaching style is legendary, and since taking his class I always hoped to sit in one of his lectures in senior year just to reminisce. I’ve had plenty of conversations with other students and Scott has always come to our minds as one of the best teachers we’ve had. He’s a valuable member of our Econ department.

ECON 137 is a gem of a class and one of the best taught at Stanford. Let Scott keep teaching! Best teacher on campus.

Despite only taking his class virtually, Scott’s teaching has left a lasting impression on me. I seriously doubt the University’s ability to offer quality economics education without Scott as an instructor. This move shows that the economics department & University at large place little value on loyalty to the lecturers who undergird the department and teach core material to students. It’s pretty shameful, but not surprising, unfortunately. It’s not too late to reverse this move.

One of the best professors I had at Stanford. Future Stanford students deserve the tremendous knowledge and excitement he brings to his courses. The econ department would be losing some of its luster without him.

Scott’s classes were definitely among the best classes that I had the pleasure of taking while at Stanford. It would not be a stretch to say that Scott’s classes molded how I fundamentally think about life and decision making today.

Scott has easily been one of the best teachers I've had. I believe the clarity of his instruction, unparalleled ability to deftly deconstruct difficult concepts, and commitment to his students truly cannot be replicated. Removing him would absolutely be a mistake.
