Not an econ major, but took 102A for a statistics requirement and stayed for 102B purely because of Scott. His classes remain the most valuable I have taken at Stanford. Please explore every option to keep him!!

Scott made an entirely online-taught statistics course into some of my favorite material I've ever learned. He is an irreplaceable asset to not only the Economics department, but to the entire Stanford community.

Scott is the best teacher at Stanford. He goes above and beyond for each of his students. How best to reward excellence with other than good? Do you reward excellence with malice?
It would be shameful to cut Scott from teaching Econ 102B and Econ 137. He is just the best at those. It is non-sensical to trade in your Ferrari (Scott) for an unproven substitute.

Econ 102A and Econ 102B are hard classes as is just because of the nature of the material, especially for students like myself who have no statistics background. Scott made that material as simple and clear as humanly possible and letting someone who so clearly actually cares about his students' understanding of the material would be a monumental mistake.

Scott's humor, clarity, and ethos of making hard things simple has allowed me to get so much out of his classes. I can't imagine the material without his instruction. I'm currently studying for the 102B final; I'm motivated to work hard for my instructor because Scott works so diligently for his students.

102A and 102B in particular are very material-heavy courses that can be slogs at times. I wish I would've had Scott in person, but even online he is one of the clearest teachers I have ever had and truly loves teaching us. #SaveScott

Scott is an awesome professor and truly cares about teaching and his students. I cannot imagine learning material from Econ 102A and 102B without him as teacher.

Public policy student here, '23. ECON102B is difficult, and even moreso for first gen students. Scott is part of the reason I felt like I could grasp the concepts. Cutting Scott as the lecturer is VERY much an equity issue in a major (includes the econ major too) that disadvantages first gen students/those that came from underfunded highschools.

Scott was one of the absolute highlights of my undergraduate education - I want to emphasize that his impact extends beyond just the economics major. He is one of the best teachers I have ever had the pleasure of knowing and honor of learning from. I strongly implore the economics department to reconsider the decision to cut his classes.
