Clearly, the people wanting to do away with the first responders have never been in a crisis situation with a loved one. I can tell you from personal experience that there is nothing more frightening that makes you feel more helpless than when someone you love has a medical emergency! Time stops and you forget to breath and then you hear the sirens and you know someone with knowledge and skills is almost there to help you! It is priceless West City! Do the right thing and continue this program!

Wow. Anything to save a buck. Leaders? How are you looking when you are taking away a Vitale element for your community. Let me put this in perspective for you.
The ones that are saying to do away with this program.
Hot day and you're mowing grass. You feel light headed. Pain shooting down your arm. You hit the ground, your out. Heart attack. The good news is that the ambulance is in herrin just transpiring a patient. The bnext available ambulance is in zeigler. 10 miles away. Time is of the essence.

On average in the U.S., the length of time between a call for help and the arrival of emergency medical services is about eight minutes - but that rose to 14 minutes in rural areas (where about 10 percent of patients waited nearly 30 minutes), researchers found.
“It’s long enough that if CPR isn’t done before the ambulance gets there, it’s not going to turn out well for the patient,” said lead author Dr. Howard Mell, of CEP-America and Presence Mercy Medical Center in Aurora, Illinois.
Mell and colleagues write in JAMA Surgery that having to wait for emergency responders to arrive is unavoidable, but few studies have looked at the length of the wait and whether it varied by setting.
“We really wanted to focus on providing the proof that active bystander training is necessary,” Mell told Reuters Health.

EMR units play a vital role in our regional EMS system. In my personal opinion, reducing the medical response capabilities of any Fire Department providing EMR services will likely cause a detrimental effect on the citizens and visitors of that jurisdiction as well as the overall EMS response system. It is my hope that constructive dialogue will take place to consider all options before ending this service.

This program is a very important part of the fire service. Think of it this way if thr local ambulance service is not available due too other calls first responders can be om tge scene to help save a life before the ambluance gets there

As a paramedic, I believe that first responders are just as important in the chain of response as the ambulance crew. To cut this, could potentially be detrimental to the medical care to the population of West City. Having worked in Franklin county in the past, I understand the high call volume and the delay that can be present if the ambulances are busy. Which are where the first responders are vital.

life being always no 1 priority .community's town's city's that doesn't have a 911.1st responders.iam sure wishes they did .and the ones that do should keep those systems implemented as we all know our ambulances services are over loaded in today times and the amount of calls.the worse call on a person worst day is hear that no one is comming or no one shows up to help this baby ,child, mother or father grandma ,grandpaw,maybe it could be you.the best thing that any 1st responder emt paramedic police officer.can carry with them in there minds is to know they did everything they could and did there best in a bad situation .non of us know when that call or that tone will come.we just all hope somone will come.and quickley as possible.time is of the essence somones life may be on the line there is no amount of money that could ever replace a life.think about this.....one day a young child was stung by bees no one knew they were allergic or maybe they were eating lunch and chocked maybe they was struck by a car.maybe they were having a,seizure maybe they fell and cut there artery.maybe there fever got up high or maybe they were comming back for shopping or a ball game and was in a car wreck and it mayb was in town or on the highway or stoplight....only for you to find out it was your child maybe your grandchild.and the last thing you heard was the ambulances were tied up there was non availible at this time and to get the closet one there would be a 25-35 minute eta on that day a chopper couldnt fly folks we all know we have sometimes less then the golden hour.if this child was to die because of money how would everyone feel in there hearts.and minds does it have to come to that....we raised our right hands swore an oath at least most of us did....when somones word ,handshake ,oath, is no longer good in America.then we have lost all our moral and values that this country was founded on among a lot of other things.when you loose hope you loose the pledge of alegence an

This is essential to the the welfare of everyone living in or passing through the area. Do the aforementioned higher call volumes an ambulance may not be available at the time of an emergency which would cause very long wait times during life threatening emergencies. The service that they provide is vital. In a cardiac arrest the patient’s very life slips away by the second. They can and do save people. I have worked along side these people and they are top notch professionals. These kind of people are very rare, they should be cherished. They are real life heroes and you would be foolish for putting the community at risk to save a few pennies.

I believe that West City fire department should keep it going. Its good training experience for them and its helping save lives and the only thing the city is paying for is the fuel. So it should stay

Who wouldn't sign this? I think it's ridiculous that this is even up for debate, especially since most of the cost is supplied by others and volunteered. The board member needs to move on to another job. I applaud the W.C.F.D. for their efforts in everything they do as my dad , Dwyght Roberson, spent many years himself saving lives in West city.

You need to keep the program. You never know when they will be needed or how much they will be needed. The next one they save if you keep them might be you or your loved ones.
