We, the undersigned parents, are disturbed to learn that Sam Harris, an important member of the ESH community, may not return to his position next year as he is not an employee of the school but rather a contract hire.

We highly value his service to our children and our school and we call on the Laboratory Schools to keep Sam in our school community by directly hiring him so he can have the job security, benefits and living wage that position confers.

Sam is a dedicated, hard-working, and positive member of the Earl Shapiro Hall team. He knows our children and makes them feel secure. He knows the parents and makes an extra effort to connect with them. He knows the faculty and the administration. He cares deeply about our community, which he has demonstrated by doing his job so cheerfully and with so much love. We parents are indebted to Sam for keeping our children safe and our building secure. In return for this service, we are advocating for Sam. He should be valued by being made an employee of the Schools. He should be valued by being paid a living wage and by being hired directly by the school.

If you'd like to discuss this further, please contact us via email; we look forward to your prompt response.

Respectfully,
The Parents of the Laboratory Schools
