Best professor ever. It was a coincidence that I had his drug and addiction class when my father passed away from alcohol abuse. With out his teaching I would've dropped out and never understood why my father choose to end his life slowly with a bottle. SMH UW.

By far the best, and most effective, teacher I have ever had. He helped me contemplate theory, decide my career path, and ultimately allow myself to live the life that I am living to this day. I owe a great deal to this man, it would be a travesty to take his presence away from any potential future students.

To this day Wender is the best professor I have ever had at UW. He has an amazing passion for the subjects that he teaches at the University, and he teaches in a way that extends that passion to his students. The university getting rid of Professor Wender is the university getting rid of one of their best faculty members.

I trust my fellow UW alumni's choice to make Professor Wender the "Favorite Professor" at UW for the year 2010. I think he should continue teaching here.

Professor Wender was by far one of the best teachers I have had in my UW career, he is not only engaging but his teachings are memorable, life-long lessons. I really wish that he would be able to stay in UW and continue his career here so many more students will be able to benefit from his classes.

He is a great lecturer! Just because he's not up to the schools preferred method of teaching doesn't mean it doesn't positively impact the students. He really teaches for the students.

This professor was such an inspiration to my boyfriend! I hope that the University reconsiders. As a recent college graduate, I know the value of good teachers. Teachers like this one deserve to be teaching students!

Wender is the reason I chose my major. He is a fantastic teacher and the only professor that I would take absolutely any class he teaches. Please do not let him go, he is an amazing professor and it would be a tragedy to lose him

I had Professor Wender my freshman year for Survey of Sociology. I'm now a senior, not even studying sociology or LSJ, and I'm STILL telling friends stories about my favorite professor at UW who engaged his students so well. I'm STILL discussing concepts I learned in his intro Soc class that changed my way of thinking with my peers. Professor Wender has a unique background that brings valuable insight to the classroom and leaves a truly lasting impact on those fortunate enough to study under him. He engages his students in a way I have yet to see mirrored at this university. He is indispensable, and it would be a huge loss for the students of the University of Washington if the Sociology/LSJ department were to let him go.

I never had him as a professor but I sat in on his class once a week with my roommate and he is amazing. I honestly learned more in his lectures (not being in his class) than I did in classes I was enrolled in.

Professor Wender was by far the best and most engaged teacher I had the pleasure of taking a class from during my BA in LSJ. Every quarter I enrolled in a many of his courses as possible because of his excellent lectures and genuine presence for his students. He was the most influential and down to earth professor in the program.

Professor Wender is an inspiration, so much so that to this day I find myself reliving his classes and paraphrasing his words in times of intense contemplation and critical thinking. The magnitude with which he has accelerated and promoted my education is second to none. To part with him is to part with an experience that transforms students lives and the experience of not just what an education can be, but what it should be. I sincerely hope that the university and department bear these truths in mind.
