By signing this petition, I am demanding the return of all 4 polka shows to their 12 hour weekend block.

Please reconsider and keep the 12 hours of polka music each weekend. Mitch, Billy, Helen, and Todd are dedicated DJ's to WMUA and the Western Mass. community. They are the constant to a world that is ever changing. Familiar and friendly voices come into our homes each weekend bringing happiness. I would hope the administration would reconsider their hasty action.

I am totally disappointed in the actions of WMUA. To cut the polka programming the way you did is nothing but a slap in the face.
I am a polka musician, promoter, and an avid fan of this music. When Billy Belina started out I spent quite a few hours in the Marston Hall studio and making promos in his cellar for WMUA. I saw what kind of equipment the station had. I have seen what you have now. Do you really think WMUA would have what they have without the Polkathon that Billy started? Contributions from this audience have exceeded $500,000 and you just cut off approximately 25% of your operating budget. Contact the business school so they can tell you what an IDIOTIC move you just made.
LEAVE IT ALONE!!!

I hope you reconsider your decision and return the polka shows to 12 hours each weekend. After all the money they have raised for WMUA that is the least the University can do to thank the Polish Community for their generous support! Thank you.

People, young and old, get enjoyment from the polka music on Saturday and Sunday. Unfortunately many of the older people do not have computers so their voices will not be heard.

WMUA's programming staff is blatantly practicing discrimination. This music is the heritage of listeners whose lineage is of Polish, Ukranian, German, Austrian and many other nationalities who have supported these broadcasts for a quarter century or more. Their support has not only been intellectual but, financial as well.
Shame on the University of Massachusetts for allowing one or more "programming" officials to use the guise of increasing so-called "Community" broadcasts. The real "Community" has demonstrated their support of WMUA for all these years and I suspect, that support will no longer exist.
As quick as this change has been implemented, it can be reversed. The University's Administrators should investigate and correct this "error in judgment" as quickly as possible.

I've enjoyed the polkas from your station for years. The polka culture in America is strong thanks to programs like yours. It's sad that you would choose to minimize such a successful program.
