The Polish Community of Western MA has always supported WMUA. The station needs to support non-commercial radio as well. I was a D.J. at WMUA for 3 years. I'm saddened to see the community involvement is going to be diminished at the station and non-commercial music programming is going to be cut.

I would tune in to polka every Saturday and Sunday and usually keep the radio on after to listen to further WMUA programming. Without polka to prompt me to listen, I doubt I'll continue to listen! Sad.

The Polish Junior League of MA, an organization of 95 women of Polish heritage throughout Western MA, CT, and NY, have depended on the Polish programming on WMUA to help publicize its annual scholarship fashion show and also its scholarship applications. With few newspapers giving us any publicity and more people discontinuing their subscription, we have greatly appreciated all of the announcements given to our organization as well as local churches and other organizations who otherwise would not be able to get the word out for their fundraisers. I particularly would like to acknowledge Mitch Moskal, his wife Debbie, and Ed Jablonski for their professionalism in providing the area with Polish music and the ability to dedicate special songs for birthdays, anniversaries, etc. The Polish community of Western Massachusetts has suffered enough the last few years with their churches being closed, and now their music is being reduced. The administration of UMass has made a huge mistake in reducing the Polish programming -- especially since these weekend programs have brought in so much money through their Polkathons. Please reinstate the two Saturday morning Polka programs.

When you let kids run the show they my shortsighted decisions. My guess is that even if they go through with this, they'll bring it back when they don't have have the listeners and the money stops coming in!

The Polish community has always come forward to donate hard earned money to keep the polkas on air. After all these years there is absolutely no good reason to cut back on polka programming. Please consider keeping the polka weekend block at 12 hours

These programs have an international audience as anyone who listens can attest. More importantly, the polka shows have been an appropriate tribute to part of the culture of the Pioneer Valley community in which the state university is located. I don 't think this is a problem of a community of old farts not adapting to change as much as the university losing sight of its place in a community.

I still listen to WMUA on Sat and Sun mornings. Billy Belina is a polka icon in this area and my Dad Bill Czupta thought the world of him and his support and dedication to the Polka Community! They had their ongoing friendly rivalry for years, but my Dad was at the telethon every year, ready to have a great time and help raise money for the radio station. I think this programming needs to stay on the air to help keep our Polish Heritage and our love of Polka Music going strong.

It is a crying shame that the staff can be so ignorant as to bite the hand that feeds them. Return the programming to the way it was. I WONDER HOW MUCH $$. THE PEOPLE OUTSIDE THE POLISH COMMUNITY RAISED MAYBE 1,000 TO THE 24+ THOUSAND OF THE POLKA LISTENERS THAT FEED THE PIPELINE
