These shows are among the few last remnants of my Polish-American heritage. I grew up in Chicopee, MA listening to polka music on records and radio (and a bit on Lawrence Welk TV shows). I'd like to keep these shows without reductions on WMUA.

Don't do this to our Polka community.

of our lives. Please let it continue.

Good afternoon;
I have 25+ years in the broadcast business, having worked on major markets and throughout New England.
It has come to my attention that WMUA FM is considering a massive cut in its programming time allotted for polka music.
I suspect that you have not properly read the latest Arbitron or Neilson numbers that show polkas for be a vibrant and thriving format in your demographic and geography.
Plus the fact that polka programming has contributed greatly over the years to your annual "begathon" appeals from listeners. And, during your most recent appeal, polka contributed more than their fair share ... what a cold slap in the face to your supporters!
Shame on you for turning your backs on your core listenership. It is those folks who help you stay on the air!

I think it is horrible that the program director at WMUA thinks it is OK to take these hours of Polka Music off the air! Polka Music is a staple in the radio community and draws the most loyal listeners that a radio station could ever hope for. These programs generate revenue for the station and promote lively, family oriented style music. I am completely disgusted at WMUA for such a horrible decision. I will not send this station another penny without those polka hours.

Ms Chauvin good luck with your fund raising without all us polish people you could careless about. Youll be gone in four years. We will still be here.

This is such a mistake to do this to WMUA and the community. The show is one of the last of its kind. Let's hope that the decision is reversed.

We will greatly miss the departure of the Polka Shows on WMUA. We have continually supported the fundraisers with the hope of keeping the polka shows airing. In your choosing to make such drastic cuts, it's obvious you are not aware of the area's polka listening population. Please give this serious consideration and allow the polka shows to continue on both days.

Leave it alone. Don't cancel anything. Why ruin a good thing?
Keep polkas on Sat. & Sun.
