I grew up listening to my great grandma play polka, and dancing with her around her kitchen while she made kolaches and other Czech foods. Turning on the radio to hear it while at or visiting UMass always made my day. I always made a point of running errands on weekends so I could sit in my car and listen. I especially loved the callouts all over the country and the birthday wishes! Though I never called in, it made me feel like I was in a much bigger community. It makes me sad that its gone!

I listen to WMUA FM polka music during the summer months when I am in Hadley and on the internet in the winter months when I am in South Carolina. My family ( two generations) has regularly supported this programming. It helps to sustain the Polish culture while the local Polish community has supported the station.

Polka music has been on for 12 hours for MANY MANY YEARS!!! Why is this changing? I strongly agree to keep Polka music on for the 12 hours like it HAS been for all these years. Stop trying to change it and keep it the way it is. I'm a youngster who enjoys listening to it. Why do you need to change it? What harm is it doing? I hereby agree and hope that it will stay on for the 12 hours like it HAS been for ALL THESE YEARS!

Please keep the the Polka programming as it is. If you would just visit one nursing home in the valley and listen to the people, you would understand that you will be breaking lot of hearts. People live for this programming, and the lift that listening to wonderful Polkas bring. Not only to they relive their youth, but it gives them a will to live -- it make them feel better than all the medication in the world -- it is the best cure! Thank you for reconsidering your decision.

Why would you want to remove Polka programming from your station after it has been so supportive of WMUA all these years? Beside supporting you, it presents wholesome, happy music that enlightens many people's day, including my own. Please keep the Polka programming.

Please keep the Polish programs on -- Unfortunately, the person who made this decision is living under a rock if he doesn't see that these programs are the heart and soul of WMUA-- Again, not sure all the pleading in the world will make him reconsider, but lets hope his heart grows and he stops being the grinch who stole our polka music -- I believe it can happen -- everyone has a heart, don't they?

This is terrible! I've been an advid listener and contributor during the funding raising (Polka thon) for many years. DJ's from all over have come to WMUA to get pledges giving up their free time to travel to UMASS and be successful in their asking for pledges. I just don't understand why us? We are the biggest supporters of your station and to do this to us is terrible. I wonder who will support your station financially as we have done in the past. Lots of luck. And this really sucks!

Please reconsider reducing air time for Polish Music. More people listen than you may think, some of us only hear our ethnic music on air as we are too far away from going to dances.
