Very disappointed in the WMUA decision. I will cease to support Umass financially with any donation. This poor decision has tarnished the reputation of the station and University. These shows are part of the community which UMASS should support like the community supported them with 24,000 dollars in donations!

It's really disgusting to see how you people take all the hard earned money people donate and a month and one half later cancel the program. That money was given to run the station for 2016. Where I come from they call that stealing.

As a 1969 graduate of UMass, I find it appalling that these programs are being eliminated. I reside in Colorado Springs, listen via the internet, these programs have been a staple of my life for many years. I have been a regular contributor to the annual fund drive for over 10 years, this will cease. A poor, short-sighted decision.

WMUA Polka has been a morning tradition in our family for many years. The presence of Polka provides us with a sense of place and history and keeps us connected to the community. The announcements of birthdays, weddings, deaths, community events, and the warm, witty, and singular chit-chat is without equal in TV or radio. Prairie Home Companion is an homage to a lost time and place where simple and local community existed and where people shared their culture and their lives. Why kill-off the real thing only to have it replaced by nostalgic simulations or, worse yet, the endless tyranny of pseudo ethnic experience that lines our streets with fake Mexican, Texan, Southern, and Chinese restaurants. We can do better than that. Remove these shows, and the rest of what is good will follow.

My family and I have been listening to these polka shows for years and enjoy them very much. The Xmas season when Koledy would play would make my mom very happy. My dad loves all the polka music that is played. I love it on the weekend also. Im hoping there will be a change of heart and continue the 12 hour schedule . It really does mean a lot to polka fans all over the world. Thank you.

Some things in life become a tradition and Polish music on Saturday and Sunday is not only a tradition it has become part of the community's life. Whether I have it on the radio or on the computer it is part of our weekend . Except for the Polish music we do not have a reason to listen to WMUA. Considering the amount of money raised for UMass and the length of service of all those involved, this is a major slap in the face to all. The administration should give strong consideration to continue programming as it is now. It is in the best interest of the community and UMass .

We have been listening to Polka music all of our lives! We started out with Andy Cheburla when I was a child. EVERY Saturday! Keep it going it's an Icon in the valley.

My entire immediate and extended family waits all week to have WMUAs polka programs on the weekends. Not one of us listens on-line. Losing this programming is like severing a limb from our family tree. It makes no sense whatsoever. If something ain't broke, don't fix it. Go figure out how to increase listenership on the rest of your programs during the week where the help is needed and leave the polkas alone.

I live in Tennessee and look forward every weekend to turning into WMUA to listen to the Polkas. I'm asking that you all please reconsider your decision as it not only impacts your community but many others around this country. I've financially supported in the past too.
