Such a shame that councils are so greedy and heartless. Lovely little business with delicious cakes, I wish you all the best.

If it's a chain rather than a local SWF based company I will certainly boycott it. Disgusting should be encouraging small business not in effect closing them down.

Why do those of you sitting in the Ivory Tower of County Hall always know what's best for local residents and adopt a dictatorial stance as opposed to perhaps, occasionally, listening to the views of those who live and work in the town.
In respect of Phoebe's Pantry why won't ECC encourage and support a local small business as opposed to creating obstacles that ensure they have to close thereby losing money on the facilities they have provided for their customers, both local and visitors. What sort of message does that send to residents thinking of starting their own small business venture in the future

Phoebe's Pantry is enjoyed by so many people. They have worked very hard to establish themselves and the council should be supporting this small business by letting them remain in their current location.

Phoebe's pantry is such a lovely place. The staff have worked so hard to get it to where it is and locals love it. Not causing any one a problem and should stay

This decision is not good for the local community or for the council. Essex is a diverse county and what works in one country park will not be right for another. Sadly this is history repeating itself and makes me cross and sad.

The council are profiteering scum. Phoebe’s Pantry was a local initiative for local people. The perpetrators of this heinous act should be ashamed for riding roughshod over the will of the local people. A commercially driven chain replacing a beloved institution is somebody’s idea of a sick joke. I will boycott this new ‘MacDonalds by the sea’ venture and encourage everyone to do so. If Phoebe’s had not had the insight to set up on this site originally, the greedy money grabbing filth at the council would never have bothered providing a facility, instead they see a local success story and the £ signs light up in their eyes. Hands off Phoebe’s - we will not use your I’ll considered replacement.

My bet is that the chain will not be there long as our country park is not like the big ones. Why does it have to be all six parks and not a local business. Uniformity does not fit all.

Another ploy for our local Council to out do a grand business set up by Phoebe & her family, who offered the pitch, any other business that decides to take over this pitch by the Council, then they will not have my customer services! Disgraceful!!!!!

Phoebe's is such a great facility, as there is nothing this side of the river, It is enjoyed by many old and young, residents and visitors. At times like this small businesses need a break. Other country parks have such a facility (Cudmore at East Mersea, Hyde Park , for instance have food/drink and wc). This is a place for people to come and enjoy, and Phoebe's presence has made it a much more desirable and enjoyable spot to visit. I am a resident, live 200 yds away and on the committee of the SWFYC, lived here for over 40years.
