I live in Dudley Road and am against a resident parking scheme as I think this would not work due to the reasons stated. In particular I do not want to pay >£130 a year as this would not solve the problem as parking problems occur mostly after 8pm.

A resident parking scheme will only cause more problems and cost people a lot of money for no guarantee of a parking space and reduce the amount of spaces currently available

Freedom is the nicest feeling in the world. Don't let them take it away from us.

It's just moving the problem unless the council intends to roll permit parking out across the entire city eventually

I’m concerned that a permit won’t guarantee a space. Usually I manage to get a space by my house unless it’s late in the evening when permits would not be needed anyway. I never have to park more than two roads away which would presumably be in the same permit area so I may still find myself parking a couple of roads away. Even if the permit could guarantee that I will always get a space right outside my front door, I don’t want to pay so much for the convenience. I know other residents in Brighton who have been on a waiting list for a parking permit for months and have had to park over a mile away from their house. I am also concerned that the need to pay for a parking permit may make the properties less desirable for prospective residents and affect property sales in the area. I do not want these roads to become permit parking only.

We live on Dudley Road - parking is always available within a short walk - permits are not a solution.

It's too many cars & expensive public transport that needs to be sorted....not charging people to park where they live.

Makes no sense to pay for something that we at present get free!

So glad you're doing this petition! Parking permits are not a solution - they will cause at least as much inconvenience as they solve, and just push the problem somewhere else.

we have lived in Stanmer Park Road since 1989 and in nearly 30 years we have only once not been able to park in the street so why would we want to pay a parking fee for something that would offer us absolutely nothing of benefit and be detrimental to family and friends visiting us. In our opinion the proposal for parking charges is ludicrous.

I am a musician and I often don't return home after working 'till about 1 a.m. I have to unload quite a lot of equipment and then find somewhere to park. This is a pain especially when the weather is unpleasant as the parking permit restrictions run out at 8 p.m, I will be paying hard earned money to be in exactly the same position that I am in now. I say NO to resident parking.

Parking permits will not address parking issues in the area. I do not ageee with paying for parking when it is not an issue for the majority of the time.

I do not want to pay to park my car outside my house on a road I already pay tax for. Permit zones just create problems with parking, remove all of them as far as I'm concerned. Doing in stages creates problem parking which turns into situations like this. The local authority just have wait while residents start turning on each other and then demand another tax and restrictions. I absolutely disagree with parking zones it makes the city unfriendly and inaccessible.
