A scheme with little consideration for the existing parking issues noted in the area - appears to be paving the way for even more difficulty and stress for residents with cars.

I live in a street further away from this problem, (and have a private drive) but still very much live in Hollingdean. I believe this would be a better scheme as I can then still park my car for the 10 minute school drop off at Hertford Infants, without having worry about buying a parking ticket or indeed, incurring a fine. Or visit shops in the Dip, or my friend’s houses. I would NOT appreciate having to pay to do this! However, I appreciate something needs to be done to alleviate the problem for residents so this seems like a good scheme. I fully support.

We’re students that live in the area, and part of the reason we chose to live in Hollingdean was because we wouldn’t be able to afford the parking permits in other places, so it would really suck for us if they started charging for parking

This road is home to an abundance of students, families and elderly residents. Enforcing this permit will mean that many people are going to be completely un able to have a car present at the property. This will in turn, especially for those who cannot afford the £130 (minimum) parking cost, will be forced to rely on public transport, which is infinitely more expensive than paying for petrol cost. As a student who relies on their car for university and work commuting, a parking permit would be a death sentence to my ability to commute. This area has enough space for everyone to park, even if at times its a little overcrowded, I’ve come home at every hour of the day and managed to find somewhere to park. I sincerely hope this can remain one of the few places in this city that will not be tarnished by post signs demanding permits and putting everyone out of pocket.

Agree! I was recently living on the other side of fiveways when they introduced parking permits there. It was still hard to park after they introduces it, especially if you came home late. it's just a stealth Council tax in reality.

I live on Stanmer Park Road and have a car. Although parking can be tricky after 6pm, I don't can't afford to pay for a permit or visitors permits.

I don't think parking permits are the answer and we should keep parking free.

I cannot see the need or justification this far out of the town centre. No problem whatsoever parking between proposed scheme times of 9am-8pm

Resident parking in these road will only push the problem to other roads. Also I believe that the council intend to give parking spaces to workers in Hollingdean depot which is outrageous. workers in other areas such as the hospital are not given spaces near their place of work.

It will not solve the problem.just because you have a permit does not guarantee you a parking space, some drivers will still be trying to find a space at various times of the day.it is just putting more strain on hard pressed families and pensioners with the additional costs it is expensive enough to run a vehicle.also the cost of vouchers for family and friends is almost the same as parking in the centre of town and then you are only permitted to buy 50 vouchers a year .the council need to stop the MOH on the estate.some of these houses have 3/4 vehicles and are they all going to get permits if so how will it solve the problem we will still have the same amount of vehicles trying to find a space so my only conclusion is that it is money spinner for the council . people will not give up their cars especially as the bus service is poor.
