Let's maintain free parking for Hollingdean residents

We live in Burstead Close which wouldn’t be Permit parking so people would park here as it would be free. This is a close it would cause parking problems for residents.

Please do not start charging as i cannot afford it

We want to keep parking free in Hollingdean.

Residents shouldn’t have to pay to park outside their own homes

We do not need a residents' parking scheme in Hollingdean. This is just another money-making scheme for the council. It will not guarantee me a parking space will it? So why should I have to pay more money for something I can already do? I might agree with permits if it meant that I could park in any other permit are in Brighton, such as when visiting friends, and conversely when others visit me. Otherwise the scheme is unnecessary. Also will it be enforced, otherwise it is of no use. Think again Brighton council!

We did not ask for resident parking and it is not needed for this area. I do not wish to have the council impose additional taxes for parking outside my own house nor should friends and family be expected to pay for visiting. I pay full council tax and get very little in return. This tax is not wanted. Hollingdean is not near the sea, the railway station or the town ... we are a residential area. Parking should be free for all. However, I do feel that students, who have invaded Hollingdean and who do not pay council tax, should not be eligible for residents parking. Their cars litter our streets and barely move. There should be no parking in local areas offered to them! No more consultations on parking, we do not want or need it!!

To even park in my post code has become impossible, Roedale Road is a dumping ground for cars & vans, another issue is hot swapping of cars & vans, if you try to park after 7:00pm you have no chance even on double yellows

Just keep it free, no issues, just a cash cow for the council

Personal, selfishly struggling with money... Moreover think stealth tax is unfair with increasing inequality. Plus I can walk 5 mins at night and save 180

Totally agree. The problem is not just the amount of cars, it is lazy, inconsiderate people who do not use their garages or driveways to store their 2nd or 3rd unecessary vehicles.

Me and my husband work 12 hour shifts. We come back late. And no parking near our home. We have people parking their work vans, cars and then jumping on a bus. Also we have a garage down the road and his got vehicles parked up that his work on it’s a joke. I have to park streets away. I think Roedale road needs permits. I’m very happy to pay for parking on my street.

Keep parking free for residents and their guests. Permits will only stop friends and family visiting and still a struggle to park. I have lived in parking zones and have still struggled to park

Keep parking free. Permits don't guarantee a space and only push problems out to the next streets. Just a cash cow for the counsel!

Hertford Road. A great appeal for recently moving to the area was the freedom to park. Having previously lived in the Hanover area where parking enforcement was brought in I felt the process and benefits didn't live up to what was promised. Cooperation, sensability and understanding is the only way to live in and enjoy the area by all residents and visitors.

I do not see how paying for permit parking will improve the parking on Stanmer Park road. Even-though you cannot always park outside your house, you can always find a space somewhere on the road. I do not want to add another bill to the list of monthly bills. I also do not want our guests to have to pay to park their car when they visit us. Please keep the parking as it is.

No parking permits in hollingdean roads. It will push the problem out to neighbouring hollingdean roads.

Resident parking is totally unnecessary in Hollingdean and demonstrates another means of raising indirect rating.

Personally this would not make a great deal of diffetence to me as I have a driveway, but I believe it will cause hardship to many in Hollingdean on liw incomes who would struggle with this extra tax on top of an already overstreched budget. It is just another excuse to raise more money . Any motorist voting to introduce such a parking sheme is no different than a turkey voting for Christmas

I work at The Connected Hub school and our parents come from all over Brighton. They need to be able to park for free as they the most vulnerable in the city.
