Accommodation should be available for parents, it’s a disgrace that it isn’t currently. They have so much to deal with, without the additional stress of finding somewhere to stay

I had a premature baby at 26 weeks & thankfully lived within driving distance of the hospital. I can only imagine how tough it would be to add the added issue of accommodation & distance from your family while trying to care for your baby.

I had a premature baby at 24 weeks in June 2014. My son spent 15 weeks in NICU, it is one of the hardest things to do in life to leave your little one alone at night when all you want to do as a mum is be there with them all the time.

I was able to visit my premature baby every day, but it was still a traumatic experience and I had difficulty coping. I can't imagine how difficult it must be for a parent to be apart from their baby in this situation.

I had a premature baby in 2010 she is now 5 years old very health, she was born at 25+2 and spent 16 weeks in the Coombe which I spent 3 hours in the car to and from the hospital every day for 16 weeks.

I had my baby at 35 weeks. He was very ill and for 8 weeks and 3 different hospitals we had to commute every day to spend time with him. Parents should be accommodated with their babies in the Nicu or scbu.

completely agree as it's such a difficult time for family and babies. They should be bonding at that stage instead of stressing about travelling and expenses at that stage!!!

It is barbaric that this situation is still going on - skin to skin with even touching a finger tip means the world to both parties, to be there at the ready if anything happens in a neo natal's babies stay as it can change so rapidly.
