Babies and mothers should never be separated if at all possible. Unless you have been in their shoes you have no concept of the utter helplessness and stress this separation can cause.

It was heartbreaking lying in this big room all by myself, hearing all the other mothers with their babies. The sound of the 6am flight to Amsterdam over the hospital, was the best, as it meant someone would be coming soon to wheel me down to ICU.

I was lucky enough to have ratibes to stay with for my 8 weeks in Dublin. I saw one mother travel on the train from Galway to bring breast milk and see her baby with 4 kids at home. One day they were operating on another baby in the room so she had to go home without seeing her child. This needs attention urgently.

As a preemie mom there's nothing more important!

Nothing is more important and healing for premature babies than to be with their parents as much as possible. It's a travesty that this is happening and it is unacceptable.

As a more of premature twins this was vital to my babies. I was with them as much as possible.

Premature babies NEED their parents to be close by. This should not even be a question.

This needs to happen , to keep parents away from their babies is not right , and it is shown babies thrive with the touch of a parent , making a quicker reccovery

I live in the US and my twins were in the nicu for 2 weeks. I was extremely blessed to be able to stay in a room at the hospital and I can't imagine being separated from them.

Our twins were born at 35 wks,we were lucky enough they were kept in portlaoise and looked after by an amazing team. We did think however they were going to be born at 29wks then 30 and 32. The thoughts of travelling at looking for accommodation adds stress especially with a 3 yr old too. Accommodation should be provided to parents through times like this. Any bit of support helps

I support this petition 100%. I had twins at 30 + 3 and live in Dublin. I live just 40 mins from the hospital and even that separation was hard so I cannot imagine how hard it must be to live in a different county
