I sometimes sit and wonder why there exists the urge to fix things that aren't broken. Change for the sake of change is foolhardy at best; just plain stupid at worst. I have no idea if this idea to change the parade was arbitrary or there was some master plan but from the number of complaints on this and other pages on social media the plan was not well thought out. I have personally participated in the parade for the last 8-10 years. That ends now. On December 2nd I plan to either be in Atlanta for the SEC Championship game (assuming Bama goes) or at home trying to watch games. The Blount Chamber of Commerce needs to realize the folly that this is, bow to the will of the people and move it back to Thursday . It's just plain stupid.

What will i be doing at 10am on December 2? Let's see......that's right....i'll be making preparations for my SEC championship game party, AT HOME. I'm sure most football fans will be doing the same. If it aint broke, don't fix it. Someone had to have been eating Crayola and washing it down with Elmer's when this ridiculous decision was made.

Keep it at night! It's has more of a Christmas feeling/spirit being in the evening. I so enjoyed the years that you had entertainment downtown at the court house before the parades. It's a magical night!

Idiotic to move the Christmas parade to daytime. Many people have small Christmas parade watching parties around town the night of the parade. I attend two, one being the Huie group and second the Oneonta fire dept. Who's idea was this? Terrible idea

It is RIDICULOUS to have Christmas lights at day time. This shouldn't even be an issue.

My Uncle Max Huie began the tradition of our family and close friends gathering at his offices on 2nd Avenue on Christmas parade night to enjoy food and fellowship and the parade. Sadly, Max is no longer with us, but my Aunt Grace has carried on that tradition. We have family members who drive from other parts of the state to join us that evening. I'd like to see the parade held on Saturday around 5 pm. I love the idea of moving it to Saturday...but I am disappointed if it's held during the morning hours when all the Christmas lights will also not be visible.
