Im a 6th generation Austinite. Born and bred with music and the Austin culture in my blood. This has been a ridiculous struggle in the downtown music scene for a while, not just Rainey. Music and the nightlife that it brings with it is a big part of what Austin is, and always has been. (Most of the time), I find that the people who complain are the same people who moved into the "newest" condo right in the heart of the "Live Music Capitol". What did they think was going to happen, when they decided to move in next door to a (already established) music venue?

Austin has been long known and loved as the live music capitol of the world....it is an absolute shame and hypocrisy to constrict and inhibit what we all know, love and represent. I will support the growth of this beautiful city as long as it beneficial. Shitting down live music is not only non-beneficial but a sacrilege. Live music is the life force behind Austin, and such restrictions are killing it. They are killing Austin. They are killing the city I love. They are killing the city you love. Keep Austin weird. this street is a glorious representation of Austin, and pumps so much revenue into the economy, DESPITE obstacles, such as parking and ongoing construction. it would be a shame to destroy it.
