As previously said , when the staff don’t recommend anything on menu, saying I wouldn’t eat in here because all microwaved, can’t read
the menus of a pdf printed paper , it’s not got much going for it , 4paying customers went ealsewhere, 9 months ago and never been back sadly the place was a ******** cheap drink or not, that is if you could be bothered to wait long enough to be served , no queuing system and no bar staff it’s crap

Lovely family friendly pub in a excellent old building that would just go to ruin if closed. Always busy but needs properly organised and managed as quality of the establishment has been allowed to slide for a while now. Asset to the town if kept open.

If The Bourtree is closing/being sold because it’s not making enough money then it’s a no brainier why this is. There are never enough staff working and this has to be because of senior management as the managers actually in the place would change it if they could as they are run ragged too. It’s quite clear to me if you has more staff serving and cleaning up, more people would use the place. I’ve been in countless times when there is one poor staff member doing everything. Customers get fed up and stop coming. Sort that out and it’ll be a goldmine.

Bourtree is the best Wetherspoons in the South of Scotland and in my opinion better than the Edinburgh ones. Don’t know why it is up for sale or closure. Please keep it open.
