As you probably know by now, Sonia's will no longer be operating our law school cafeteria next year. What you might not know is that the new company that has been hired is under no obligation to keep our current Sonia's staff on board. The school has assured us that the Sonia's staff will be given the opportunity to interview for the new company, but there is no guarantee that they will be re-hired.

For those of us who visit Sonia's regularly, the staff are a part of our Loyola family. We complain to them about our classes and finals, we watch sports with them, practice our Spanish and French with them, and drink the coffee faster than they can make it. But no matter how busy things get, they always do their best to keep up with us and they do it with positive attitudes and good humor. They deserve more than an opportunity to interview, they deserve to be given priority over other applicants.

The school is already cutting back in so many areas despite the fact that tuition and other student expenses continue to rise. I t's time we had greater say in the changes our school is making. By signing this petition, you'll be letting the school know that we take loyalty to members of our Loyola family seriously, and we are not okay with them losing their jobs just so the school can maximize profits.
