Please keep the IHM sisters at St Rose! I wouldn't be the person I am today spiritually without them!

For many years, the nun — the habit — the sister — has been synonymous with St. Rose. It is important to have the IHM sisters be part of the faculty and present at St Rose. I think there’s a degree of living your faith that they can share with the kids —things that often times we as lay people may not right away think about. Having a nun gives students a deeper insight to their faith, which is one of the main reasons why parents choose for their children to attend St. Rose. They’ve been living the faith their whole lives, nobody knows our faith more than a nun living the faith. Attending the highest rated school doesn’t guarantee my child will have a happy, successful, fulfilled life. It doesn’t guarantee that my child will be a good citizen or kind person. It doesn’t guarantee that my child will make lots of money as an adult. It doesn’t even guarantee the school will be a good fit for my child. You can’t buy happiness. So does that mean a quality education doesn’t matter? It for sure matters! We want our kids to have as much quality education as they can. But I think there are many ways to define "quality education". You want the school to reflect who you are and the values you are trying to pass on to your kids. You want symmetry with your parenting philosophy.

It is real shameful what it is being done to the Sisters. My wife an alumn from SRL and I are strongly considering moving our kids to another school due to this decision.

I am a parishioner, former parent of an alumnus and wife to an alumnus. The rich tradition of the sisters running St. Rose School is irreplaceable! They are essential in our children s Catholic education and upbringing.

I can't believe after 35 years of service to St. Rose of Lima School and Parish, that these wonderful and caring IHM sisters could be let go. I am very thankful for receiving a Catholic education throughout my life, especially while at St. Rose. These sisters help keep God at the center of the school. They impacted me in so many positive ways growing up. My life and faith in God would not be the same had they not been connected to the St. Rose community. Not every Catholic school has the privilege to be blessed with nuns that facilitate students' educational learning with such spiritual guidance. Not only is a student's education shaped by these sisters, but also their integrity. I firmly believe this helps distinguish St. Rose of Lima from other Catholic schools. I think it's best for the school to keep the IHM sisters, so they can continue to influence the current students, faculty, family, and parishioners in great spirit and to keep St. Rose of Lima, "A good place to grow."

I went to St. Rose of Lima from Pre-K to 8th grade. The school and parish would not be the same without the IHM nuns.

After attending Saint Rose over 10 years ago it is sad to hear such news, these nuns taugh us more than what any textbook had to offer. These sisters guided the students out of pure love and passion rather than just because teaching was their occupation.

We are a founding family of the Parish with over 10 alumni who have passed through the halls starting from 1951 to as recently as 2011. We are shocked and perplexed to learn of the decision to removed the sisters. Our community, indeed, our country should not yield to the forces of change that diminishes the core values we strived so hard to pass along. Please reconsider this decision.
