There are many more reasons NOT to drill offshore than there is to do it! Please consider the environment first, and if you don't care about that, then our Nation's armed services and the problems it will cause for them!.,

We have lived and boated on the Gulf Coast. Oil leaks from these rigs all of the time. It smells the fish becoem diseased and all of the shellfish are suspect. There does not need to be a spill to contaminate the oceans, it happens simply from the activity. When the companies say they can do it without contamination they are lying. We need to move forward in energy policy, we don't need to try to use up every darn drop just because it is there. What will the future think of hose living today? Are we that greedy or shortsighted. This must not happen.

We have lived and boated on the Gulf Coast. Oil leaks from these rigs all of the time. It smells the fish becoem diseased and all of the shellfish are suspect. There does not need to be a spill to contaminate the oceans, it happens simply from the activity. When the companies say they can do it without contamination they are lying. We need to move forward in energy policy, we don't need to try to use up every darn drop just because it is there. What will the future think of hose living today? Are we that greedy or shortsighted. This must not happen.

A spill in this area would be devastating, to the local economy and to the critical (world-class) habitat for migratory shorebirds. Now is the time to be focusing on alternative energy, not the "all of the above" approach that will exacerbate climate change and prevent us from refocusing our course. Some fossil fuels must remain in the ground.

At a time when these reources are most threatened by other assaults such as ocean acidification and nitrogen loading in our shallows, along with pressure to rezone our coasts to allow for intense development, allowing oil drilling off our coasts should be roundly discouraged and indeed prohbited..
