The Closure of this unit would be detrimental to those children who need and benefit from the added input of the speech and language team. Please reconsider OIC.

The Language Unit provides a focused, distraction free environment where children with varying language difficulties can come together and receive the additional help they need. It works very hard to educate, encourage and give the children the confidence to interact with other children and adults. The Language Unit would be sorely missed should it close.

The language unit helped me a lot when I was younger, I believe it should be kept open to help other young people.

These specialist provisions are vital to giving children with speech and language disorders the help that they need. If the provision is taken away it will have a negative impact on the life chances of those children. They have a RIGHT to education which is fit for purpose and which supports their specific needs.

It's a invaluable service. Seen how valuable a service it is when I was on placement there. Also the results seen during the child's placement. The confidence they gain

Both my children have attended the language unit. It was integral to their development in school and both of them have got a lot further in school because of the support they received from the Language unit. I urge OIC to reconsider this decision so that children that really need this service can continue to benefit from it.

This unit is required for all those children who need specific language intervention. Without it at the right age these children will struggle their whole lifetime at school. The OIC need to look at their funding and not cut a vital service. Without this service these children will need more input for a longer length of time so this will not actually save the council money in the longer term.
This service is too important to lose!
