This would be such a loss. My little girl used it for a good year and a half and it helped her massively. There has always been a waiting list so surely this in itself shows the need for it.

The OIC once again proving that they are NOT working towards helping the people of Orkney in any way, shape or form. This service is not only vital, but a lifeline for many children and parents who need and value the un ending support they receive from the dedicated and hard working teachers. An absolute disgrace.

Why on earth the council would want to close a unit that there is a clear need for and benefits children and their families I have no idea ! Surely there are other areas cuts can be made !

This is by far, one of the OIC's most ridiculous decisions. To effectively diminish the existence of the Language Unit and further delay childrens development is ludicrous.

I am completely dumbfounded by this decision. I do not see why our children should suffer by closing this important service.

The views of the Councillors seemed to equate 'efficiency' with quality of service, which always makes me suspicious.

This unit provides much needed support to the hundreds of kids and families that have speech issues. Total nonsense to close it

I was born with severe to profound hearing loss. Like all deaf children who attended my school for the Deaf, I had individual speech therapy and I credit this - AND my parents to the good speech I have today.
The Orkney Language Unit provides an essential service to children with language ddevelopment problems and the impending closure in June would have a profound effect on those children.

This has to be one of the most unfounded and ridiculous plans that I have ever heard. Yet another display of taking away from some of our most vulnerable young people and their families. I have no doubt that the money saved will go in to the levels management who have little or no idea of real life and the struggles that it brings for some.

This is a very valuable unit for the children in orkney, my son has been attending for the last two yrs he wouldnt be where he is today if he hadnt had been able to attend the unit. Please reconsider and keep the language unit open

A vital support for Orkney families.
