Keep Open the Pedestrian Crossing between Caedelyn Park and Pen y Dre

The pedestrian crossing provides a convenient place to cross the railway line and is used by many as access for the primary school nearby. The alternative routes would add a great deal more time to journeys and for families with push chairs/wheelchairs there are inclines or steps to contend with in either route. It would be safer to keep the crossing and would reduce the number of people who would opt for cars instead of the short walk they currently undertake if time restraints would restrict using the long way round.

Put a fence where a gate used to be and watch the children get over it no problem. At least the drivers know there is a crossing there now.

I use this crossing to take my grand daughter to school. Would not be able to use alternative crossings as I am pushing a pram. .Would be devastated if this crossing is closed.

My children love watching the trains coming down the track and this walkway is an ideal way to cross the track!

Feel really strongly about keeping the crossing open as, if closed, I cannot do the school run with my child as have a baby in a buggy too so could not get up and over the rail way bridge. Any other route would double to the time to get to school!!

Always cross this with my 1 year old in pram, much needed for access to sports ground and park. No trains on a Sunday either so makes no sense to close it

This would be a great disadvantage to many people. It is not a dangerous crossing by any means and has great advantages for all age groups

This crossing is essential for access to Caedelyn Park for residents from both Whitchurch and Rhiwbina areas! Children play a variety of sports there and surely this has to be encouraged! There has never been an accident on this crossing and to close it does not make any sense at all!!

It would mean that my grandson and other children would be unable to use the park as it is to far for them to walk around

Use this crossing all the time to get son to rugby and football training. Alternatives would add a lot of time to a short journey.

This is a low maintenance crossing in comparison with bridges and tunnels etc. it only requires visual checks every year any minor/simple repair works as/when or if needed

Essential for the community - it's been around for decades. Less mobile people/people with prams will have to go to huge lengths to get access to Pen-Y-Dre/Caedelyn. The safety gates that were added some years ago are a great addition to an ESSENTIAL crossing.

The crossing is used for flatter access for those of limited mobility and used by children and parents on Sunday when lots of sport is played and no trains run.

This crossing is well used by the community and serves all. However the maintenance is key to avoid incidents. It has been a public right of way or pathway for over hundred years records 1870's records show.
