The Ontario Planning Board finally caved and rejected the Gerber Homes proposal. We stopped them from destroying our wetlands and flooding our neighborhood for profit. Stay alert because we need to make sure they do not try to crawl back here with another greedy plan.

Gerber Homes is trying to get approval from the Ontario Planning Board to build 8 apartment building with 8 units in each for a total of 64 rental apartments. They plan on building this within Centennial Village and bordered by Slocum Rd, Patriot Drive, Independence Way and Old Ridge Rd. The proposed site is on a natural floodplain and thru a federal wetland. It would alter an entire ecosystem as well decimate the surrounding wooded area which is home to many of our local species of animals some of which are endangered or protected. This project would not only destroy the natural sound and light barriers, but it would also cause flooding issues and soil erosion. It would lower the value of the existing homes, increase the chance of vandalism, and erase the natural beauty of the area. Please sign this petition and help us to keep this area rural and preserve its natural beauty.

I live on ridge ,we have flooding in back of my house every year. Solve that first, before you destroy more land. Possible making my land flood more! This has been a problem every year for the 35 plus years we have lived here!
Please stop trying to make Ontario like Webster. That land should stay as a wooded area to protect the wildlife. If the Town of Ontario would take the time to stop and listen to the residents, they would not get nearly as much push back. This land was promised to be forever wild, but the Town will do anything for a buck!
Whatever tax gains that might be made from this high density project will be more than outstripped by the intensified use of resources and services. Moreover, it will erode the character of the Town of Ontario.
I grew up with this as my back yard and my grandparents were told it would never be built on. Here we are years later and our side yard will have a road in it and out of the nice bay window we will have a perfect view of these buildings and a road. Just sad.
I was appalled that John G told the Wayne County planning board that only a couple of people were concerned about buffers, when there's a neighborhood Coalition against the whole project.
We also live in centennial and do not want this

People moved into this neighborhood for the privacy and nature like settings. This will completely destroy the neighborhood feel, drive house prices down, and likely create a very hostile environment for many.
