I am deeply disappointed at the very vague explanation as to why the governors have chosen to close the after school facilties. My kids have both used after schools, not full time but when needed. The staff are excellent and do not deserve this as they have played a vital role in both my children's years at Oakwood. Please reconsider your decision.

Extremely disappointed at this decision and how it was communicated. A schools relationship with parents is vital and this has seriously damaged our confidence in Oakwood. Like many parents the wrap around care facility was a key factor in selecting Oakwood. I sincerely hope the school listens to the disappointment, anger and sheer chaos it has created for parents and children and reverses this decision - otherwise I foresee very difficult times ahead for all concerned.

I don't use the service at present but had planned to in September. The decision is totally ridiculous and I wonder how the Board would feel if this service had been removed from their children's schools in such a way?

I feel that there should have been a consultation period to see if the parents could come up with a solution. It feels like the school is in a decline. The atmosphere is terrible.

The comments already made say it all, .Shame on the school staff for campaigning for nursery status and asking for parental support and votes this time last year. We had been hoodwinked and manipulated away from a key service which was what web all selected Oakwood for; we were promised advancements not removal of provisions. Lost school community ethos. Zero respect nor wider consultation for parents, current staff and more importantly the impact on our children and their development.I await my response to yesterday’s letter to the chairperson yet with the nature of communication so far I expect hiding behind “constraints “ to be used as a factless faceless excuse.

So many people rely on this including myself. The lack of explanation show very little respect to parents.

You have parent governors on the board but don’t appear to have considered the parent view. I’m a granny not a parent but seems to me that Oakwood’s strength has been it’s sense of community and service to all. This decision is disappointing to me but devastating to families. If there are good reasons share them please!

I can only echo previous comments and express my disappointment at the lack of communication. It feels like this decision has been made without regard for the working parent and goes against the community spirit that was promised when we chose Oakwood.

Absolute disgrace. Total lack of communication with zero parental involvement. With this ludicrous decision, the board of governors are on their way to pulling apart this "community orientated" school". So much for integrated education being the "future" of Northern Ireland!

Totally wrong decision. At least give parents, carers and staff 12 months to arrange alternatives. No child centred thinking here and the communication was insulting. The 4 play leaders arent just faceless, disposable commodities and are such wonderful influencers on all our children.
The poor decision to not make the so called 'valid' reasons known to parents, looks like someone or something is being covered up. I expected more from some of these 'representives'- parents have a right to transparent information and to be consulted.

Once again parents have not been consulted but told a decision. This service is one of the reasons parents choose Oakwood. I urge a public meeting to disclose the reasons for making this decision. Parents are just as important as the kids and need to be shown some respect. Families depend on this service.

Why would the board of governors even think of withdrawing this???

The after school care is absolutely essential for me as a single working parent and was one of the reasons I chose Oakwood for my son. I cannot imagine how we would cope without it and urge the governors to reconsider.

My daughter is hopefully starting P1 in September and this is extremely disappointing there will be no after care in place, a major part in my decision of choosing this school.

I feel that the afterschool should be kept open as it is a great service for the working single parents and everyone else, I am highly disappointed with this decision. There should be a meeting to consolidate with the parents, if this has to do with any budget cuts I am sure that a reasonable solution can be found to help the after school running.

Absolutely gutted, the wrap around care at Oakwood is such a great service and the kids all love it, the care they receive is excellent and the staff are brilliant with the kids.
