Keep the floating homes!

These homes are a part of history and caretakers of the waterways! To force them out after years of being there is beyond WRONG in so many ways!

This is crazy. I can't believe they are doing this.

When the home i am looking at purchasing is brought up to code for permit, i don't see how (since i would own .005 acre lot on which i will have a garage with guest house already built) and over half of my floating dream house is a boat slip, i can be forced to remove said boathouse if I am not polluting the river or "blocking public use" . I should i purchase the property will own the shore next to around 30 other landowners. This is wrong wrong wrong!!

Save the floating houses and the local economy

I grew up on a house boat and some of the best memories of my life were there. It would be cutting out one of the greatest things a family can do to spend time with each other.. not everyone can afford land at the lake or a house there. House boats are for those less fortunate to be able to enjoy the lake and the families.

Please keep houseboats on Fontana! My friends and family has them and I was hoping to have one of my own!!

Nooooo. You can't take away floating houseboats. Limit them to certain areas so there's no overcrowding.

My grandparents own a boat house and I use it on a regular basis every summer and I think that this lot is ludicrous . I've been coming here ever since I was able to walk and my grandparents of been coming here for many years before that. Had to both houses and we built the second by hand . I would like to bring my kids here and my family and I think it would be a tragedy to lose this opportunity .

This life style needs to be preserved! It is a unique, great way to enjoy the water. Houseboat owners I know are very environmentally conscious and should be allowed to continue this great experience.

I have a boat house on fontana and we would love to pass it on to our children

We formed Lake Union Liveaboard Association and changed state law to protect our floating residences. After a 5 year battle with the City of Seattle, state law required them to modify their Shoreline Master Plan to accommodate the protect class of floating residences. We support you in your battle and you may want to consider approaching the state legislature to get protection. Best of luck!

Removing these homes, many of which are vacation spots, will unfairly harm the working middle class, whose sole escape is often floating homes or houseboats. DON'T TAKE THIS AWAY FROM THEM.

The City of Seattle tried to get rid of houseboats and they finally came to their senses. It also cost them a small fortune.

We have a licensed NC boathouse and that is the same as a boat, it is legal and cannot be removed.

Please reconsider. This will surely deter my friends family from visiting TN for our vacations and we will spend our $ elsewhere.

Its not just the pre-1978 homes, we were given permission to build in 2009. Seems unethical to allow us to build a house then tell us we need to remove it.

These homes bring in a lot of tourist from all around that help our community grow!
