TVA... I am not a homeowner nor a resident, Too young to retire, not old enough to forget the fond memories of years on Norris Lake with my dad at the young age of 3 that taught me to swim in that lake, A lake that hold very fond memories of being on a (floating house) that i jumped into my waiting father's arms as he taught me to swim. I come home to visit every year and as often as i can. I was born in Lafollette, and i still have family in the area, Can't you leave well enough alone. I hope to retire in 5 short yrs and i would love to return to my roots on Norris Lake in my own little (floating house). Signed and shared.

The house boaters spend a ton of money contributing to the economy and tourism in tn. these are family oriented hard working people that need a break from their busy lives and not developers that only see a dollar sign on the pristine banks of our lakes .AND THAT IS WHAT I SEE THIS WHOLE THING IS ABOUT!!!!! .I pay 330. dollars a month to have the privilege of having a house boat on the lake from which the boat dock owner pays a hefty amount to tva for marina rent plus we buy food that tn gets sale tax on pay a electric bill that goes to tva buy fuel which tn gets tax from pay a registration fee for our boats, buy fishing license yearly plus when we need our boats repaired we buy supplies from local business supporting the economy AND TVA WANTS TO THROW ALL THAT AWAY SO SOME DEVELOPER CAN MAKE A FAST BUCK OF WHICH A LOT ON THE MONEY WILL GO TO INVESTORS THAT HAVE NEVER SEEN OUR LAKES OR SEEN THE JOY OF A CHILD ON A BOAT ENJOYING FAMILY TIME WITH PEOPLE THAT LOVE THEM yes factory house boats are beautiful but even as a small business owner I CAN NOT AFFORD TO OWN A 300 THOUSAND DOLLAR BOAT!!! PLEASE CONSIDER ALL THE PEOPLE.... I HAVE NO MALICE OR ENVY OF THOSE WHO CAN THEY HAVE WORKED HARD FOR THOSE BOATS AND SAY CONGRATS AND HOPE TO OWN ONE SOMEDAY!!!!!!!!!

From one who loves Straight Creek Boat dock, we pay rent to our marina who leases the harbor from TVA, hence TVA i.e. the public is being compensated for the harbor use. The private development slips take up the "public space" isolating boaters from these areas as the TVA people accuse the floating home owners of doing.
We have the latest environmental controls. These floating houses are a way of life for the Tennessee Valley for generations. They create less pollution than regular motor boats as well. Also if you travel up and down the lakes you will see more factory in poor condition or even sinking than the floating houses.

Families come from all over the US and spend the whole summer . This is their second home. This generates lots of revenue for the local economy.

We have owned a Houseboat on Fontana Lake Lake for 10 years. And in the process of rebuilding a new one. Why mess with stuff people Love??
