There are many benefits to having a community pool. Hopefully the town council will consider the unrealized costs that will occur before closing Newburgh Pool.

Please keep the pool open. My children enjoy taking swim lessons at this pool.

I’m very sad to hear this. The community pool has been a place for families to enjoy for many years.

Closing the pool is a horrible disservice to the local community. The children need activity and this pool has been a local staple for years. If anything it should be top priority to renovate and expand to bring in more people from town or even from Evansville to spend time enjoying our little town. People who swim at the pool also stop at local shops downtown, increasing revenue and eat at local restaurants. Instead of thinking of the strain on the local area think of it as a money maker for local business. Reign in the budget on other projects and make this a focus and renovate and increase fees to get in.

I have been swimming at the Newburgh pool since I was a child and would like for my two children to say the same when they grow up. Please don't close.

You don’t want my comments. This is unacceptable and a disgrace to the place SO many of us treasure. You want comments check out about 100 of our FB pages of gtown adults who are livid because this is the place they grew up and why they stayed for their kids to experience our amazing town! It gets them off the couch and off their phones. It establishes lifelong friendships and helps cross the bridge from elementary yo middle school! I could go on but the fact you’re doing this tells me none of you care about anything but yourselves!

Newburgh citizens deserve to have this resource available to them and their children . If some upgrades were made to this facility and the playground it would bring in a plethora of money. Don’t close the pool fix it and make it a place people bring their kids!!!!

If there's $20k in the budget to move a wooden shack on the river, there's budget to keep this pool open. This is the only public pool option in Newburgh for kids during the Summer and is a regular spot for Summer daycares and schools in town.

My kids loved swimming at the Newburgh pool when they were little! They also competed in swim meets there! It is a wonderful pool that serves a real need in our community!

The Newburgh Pool is a community resource for young and old. Let’s give our town the opportunity to know the cost and address the biggest obstacles on keeping it open. We have a talented community, let’s see what the residents can come up with to keep our pool open-including fundraising!

It would be sad to close down one of the biggest places to take the kids in the summer. It needs to be taken more seriously to give our kids something to do and stay out of trouble.

As a lifetime resident of Newburgh, it saddens me to see the neglect the pool has endured over the years. Two of my siblings worked as guards in the 1980s and my 2 children have worked as guards. The pool was always a part of our family life in the summer. We participated in swim team for many years both as swimmers and my daughter was a coach. The town should make the pool and park a priority. It could be the gem of the town but has not received the funds to adequately address the yearly upkeep and maintenance required to keep the pool even close to acceptable standards. Itstead of adding facilities to the town we amshould take care of the existing facilities that cater to young people. The town owes that to their families.
