My question is why did they spend 5 million on Freidman park? Why can't they remodel Newburgh pool or build a new one?

I agree with the petition to keep the pool open. Bring it up to code and provide a safe place for our children and families to swim, as it has been for decades.

Please make public aware of repairs or upkeep needed to make safe and why not try to raise funds for such?

There are many reasons why not to close Newburgh Pool. Many kids learn to swim in the summertime at city pools. If you close the pool, these kids will miss out on this option and that will reflect poorly on the Newburgh community. If the pool is old and needs to be fixed/rebuilt, then make that the goal and do it right! Please don't replace it with a water park that won't allow for swimmers to swim laps and kids to learn how to swim. Also, please don't build only a 3 lap pool as they are usually useless pools--too small for teams to rent out or serious swimmers to consistently come to. I know from experience that usually there is a shortage of swim space in most communities. Do a poll/research on the needs of the community. Also, please contact area competitive swimmers for input on what works for a smart pool setup. I started swimming at Newburgh Pool as a tiny tot and continued swimming there every summer, spending many hours at swim practice there, as well as, hanging out there. It was one of the area pools that introduced me to the sport, which I continued through my freshmen year in college. It is a great sport for your health and one that you can keep doing all your life. Now in my early 40s, I'm still swimming 3-4 times a week. Even though I have access in my current city to a nice 50m pool, in the summer I often choose to swim at a pool very similar to Newburgh Pool, just for the chance to swim outside. With the rise in popularity of triathlons (that mostly take place in the summer), swimming interest has also risen. Be on the forefront, promote swimming and add it to the attribute list of living in the Newburgh community!

Please find a way to keep this pool open! My grandson attends the Garden school...every summer they take the entire school to Newburgh pool twice a week! Because of this wonderful opportunity Bentley has become a rockstar swimmer! This is a special place for many children...please find a way to let the memories and learning continue ...there are so few of these type places left.

The Newburgh Community Park and Pool is an amazing asset for our town. It would be a shame to lose it.
