Keep NatWest in Barnes

Quite how local pensioners and small businesses are supposed to carry on without a local bank is beyond comprehension. It will cause enormous hardship. Our local post offices are not nearly large enough to take over. Wheelchair customers cannot use the Church Road post office. The aisle is too narrow. It is a disgrace. The Nat West which makes such a song and dance about the quality of its services is failing badly here.

Living vibrant communities of businesses and families need a cashpoint locally

NatWest needs to remember that local banking in the UK was what made them grow into the global giant they are today. Despite Barnes branch not being particularly profitable, they need to serve those areas that desperately need Nat West to be there, and Barnes is certainly one of them.

Barnes needs a Bank! Please NatWest, be that bank.

Barnes 10,000 strong population deserves to be serviced by a bank; access to closest alternative branch will be difficult, particularly for the aged population. The branch too provides a community place making encounters the cash machine does not provide. Traffic too might increase, hardly conducive to an already polluted environment.

Taxpayers had no choice but to bail RBS out 10 years ago and Fred the shrink still enjoys his pension, but NatWest and RBS customers are treated shamefully.

So upsetting to hear that Nat West Barnes will close. So bad that people will have to drive or take public transport to have access to a Bank as it is the only one left in Barnes.

I am 87, fairly immobile. I have never used a car, and do not use computers. My family are sending this for me to say I, and others like me need a local bank.

NatWest is the only remaining bank in Barnes. Please don’t take it away.

My experience is that this is a very busy branch and the community would be lost without it.

I moved my accounts to Nat West from HSBC because I wanted a bank that I could actually go into. To pay in cheques, to transfer money from my savings account to my current account when needed etc.. I do not do internet banking. And when they close this branch I will withdraw my savings. We are being poorly served by the banking community. This particular branch was a pleasure to go to, with the staff so pleasant and helpful.

I, and my mother, have been with Nat West for decades. This is no way to treat loyal customers. If this branch goes, we will immediately switch our accounts to a different bank.

This branch is a lifeline both for older people in Barnes and for businesses. The long term closure of Hammersmith Bridge scheduled for 2018 and destined to last a number of years together with the lack of transport links to Putney will mean getting to a bank will be very difficult in the future. Nat West will lose a lot of customers and goodwill in the process. Please think again.

I have been a Nat West customer for 50 years. This closure would be a sad loss and could mean the departure of me and many other customers from this prosperous community to pastures new.

This branch provides a value service to Barnes, including for small businesses. Please do not close it.

Both the branch itself and its ATM are important to many people in Barnes with no other banks now having a branch here.

The NatWest branch in Barnes always seems to be busy. How can closure be justified by insufficient use?
