If the complaining residents don't want to be bothered by college parties, they should not have chosen to live so close to a college campus, especially not a college that is a known party school with a ton of greek life

You can't take away something that is a part of a cities personality. People that have a problem with college students being college students on their own campus need to realize that they're in fact living on a COLLEGE CAMPUS. Like damn, what did you expect? Quiet nights like your living in the suburbs? Sorry, that's not exactly how it works. You should reconsider your argument and what exactly you're fighting against. There are so many other greater issues than that of college students having fun & listening to music.

The history of live music and culture which has grown in West Campus is an attraction both for young people in the area as well as future students of UT Austin. For me personally, the presence of live music and a thriving culture within West Campus provided the motivation to live there throughout my entire college experience, and framed my personal development within the city of Austin. I understand the desire of older residents for moderation in such events, but such severe restrictions have a very strong potential of changing the culture which makes West Campus what it is and has historically been known for.

These events bring major publicity to the University. Events like round up help prospective students consider UT more seriously over competitor schools like A&M, Baylor, and more.
