Opened in 1951, William Alexander Middle School 51 is a gifted and talented school located in Park Slope Brooklyn. In existence for over 64 years, the electrical needs of the school have changed. With the use of computers, printers, smartboards, and air-conditioning, our buildings current electrical system is not prepared to meet the high demand of this new electronic age. We are attempting to raise enough money to re-wire the building to accommodate the increasing electronic demands. We need to be able to supply students with a comfortable learning environment.
During the months of May - October it can be unbearably hot. Our student’s classrooms can reach 98 degrees. This causes illness and the inability to concentrate and learn. We are hoping to convince our city and state officials to fund our need. Sign this petition; volunteer to be a part of the committee. Help MS 51 stay cool this summer.

Seeing this level of support for my child's school confirms that we have reached a turning point in our fight to fix the electricity. It means so much to see our community rally behind these kids who are trying to learn in sweltering classrooms.

THE SCHOOL NEEDS AN UPGRADE ALREADY. It is 2016 and our kids are roasting in rooms that were built in the 50s. FIX THE WIRING.
The classrooms are like ovens. Something has to be done before someone passes out.
The upper floors are in desperate need of air conditioning!
