My kid went to this school back when Mrs. Killian just started teaching and I knew she would be a great teacher. I think it would be a bad thing to let her go.

I am a seventh grade student at St. Thomas Moore. Today we we are just beginning to talk about Asian market. Mrs killian cares so much about her students. She told us today that what ever we need done will get done, with Mrs killian right beside you because Mrs killian loves each and every student she has taught!! Mrs. Killian gives each and every student the independence that they deserve. I will forever know Mrs. Killian as a teacher who cares, loves, and has a extremely large amount of dedication with each and every class! St Thomas Moore wouldn't be the same without her.

Mrs. Killian has taught me so many things throughout my time at St. Thomas More Catholic School. Not only is she excellent at getting ideas about history and the subject she teaches across to students, she also teaches a life lesson along with every subject she teaches. The projects, such as Asian Market, always have an underlying lesson about the modern world. For example, Asian Market not only teaches students about Asian culture, but also about how to 'run a business,' work with customers, and manage money. Mrs. Killian has a way of understanding the students in the middle school. She sees and relates to the student’s points, and when a student disagrees about a rule or request of a teacher, Mrs. Killian can always put the rules into ways that the students can understand. She agrees with the students while, at the same time, she is stern with them about the rules and regulations in a loving and caring way. She gives just the right amount of leeway with the students, and she trusts them and treats them as close to adults as is necessary. Through projects, interactive story telling, presentations, and intriguing lectures, Mrs. Killian never fails to get a concept across to a student in a way that that particular student can easily understand and remember. If one way of teaching doesn’t work, Mrs. Killian will have another way of explaining a concept. Mrs. Killian is an outstanding teacher, and a loving friend. She has taught me countless subjects and concepts about World History and Social studies that I have used and impressed teachers with in my high school career as well as so many things about growing up and becoming a mature adult. I don’t think I could have been happy at St. Thomas More School without Mrs. Killian. We need Mrs. Killian!

Why would a competent administration that had it's students best interests at heart FIRE a veteran teacher? Puzzling.

Losing Pat Killian would be a tremendous loss for the STM community. Pat Killian teaches in a way that engages students of many different learning styles. The projects and discussions in her classroom are an integral part of educating the whole child. Her projects and hands on approach to learning provide a necessary balance to the traditional lecture/note taking style of learning. Pat's understanding of and compassion for her students is second to none. Her understanding and compassion have positively affected the STM school experience for many children who might have otherwise fallen through the cracks. Pat supports, encourages, respects and honors each of her students and gives them the confidence to believe that they can be successful in whatever they do!

It is amazing to me how much has changed over the years. The more experienced the person-the more likely they are let go... Exceptional teachers are hard to find.n You are making a big mistake

Ms. Killian is a wonderful teacher who has taught so many lasting and positive lessons through her teaching approach. She remains very highly thought of by all of her former students (and parents).

Mrs. Killian was a great teacher, and certainly of my the better teachers I've ever had. Looking back, I remember how she could easily, without ever raising her voice, corral and calm a group of hyperactive unruly students. (Trust me, I was a major PITA). I hope the termination decision is reconsidered. Thank you.

Mrs Killian has been a great teacher. Both my oldest daughters love her. It would be a shame to see her go.

Pat Killian is a gifted teacher who not only loves teaching middle school children excels at it. Her passion for learning is contagious with the students. Her departure from STM would leave a huge hole that could never be filled and it is hard to understand why the administration is pursuing this option.

Pat Killian has been a wonderful teacher to both of my children and she is truly been inspirational to them. It would be a tragedy to lose one of the best teachers at STM. I strongly encourage you to reconsider her employment status at STM. Thanks, Jim

Mrs. Killian has had such a tremendous positive impact on our family. Not only has she prepared both of my children academically, she has also shown them a love for learning. I feel that she is truly a partner in their education. I can always count on her to respond to my emails in a timely manner, answer any questions I may have or address any concerns. I hope that she will be with us next year.

I credit Mrs. Killian with my love of history and other cultures. These interests, first sparked in her classroom, informed what I went on to study in college and the work that I am doing today and hope to do in the future. She was my favorite teacher at STM, and I would not be who I am today had I not been her student. I am deeply saddened by these events and I hope this wrong can be righted. I know many STM alums feel similarly.

I understand the church and the school have their own reasoning for terminating Mrs. Killian's contract, whether financial or personal. But I would like to express my appreciation to her. She is a great teacher, motivator, open minded person who understand the real world, and teaches our kids the right meaning of tolerance. She is the one teacher that my children share her stories on our dinner table. That means a lot. Thank you Mrs. Killian.
